Check my numbers? Spriggan
« on: 26 May 2018, 22:17:18 »
Fiddling with Protomechs for the first time, so...

1.
I am VERY much aware that the design is not optimal/optimized. Please don't snipe about it, as again, 1st time even trying.

2.
Not sure if I'm adding things up correctly, so I'd like feedback specifically on whether or not this adds up. Mostly because I kept re-doing this on paper so much + erasing, that I ripped through the paper/smeared it with my eraser.

3.
#2, and I was doing the armor mass per point from memory, so I think I'm off on the totals.

Okay so...

Name: Spriggan Testbed
Weight : 7 tons
Type: Bipedal
Move: 6/9 (2000kg)
Jump: 3 (300kg)
Heat Sinks: 2 (500kg)

Armor: 1600-1700kg??
Head: 5
Torso: 14
Arms: 3
Legs: 7
Main Gun: N/A (No Main Gun)

Armaments:
AP Gauss / Torso 500kg
ERSL / Right Arm 500 kg
16@ AP Gauss / Body 400kg

I think I'm overweight by 100kg and would need to shave off 2 points of armor on the torso.

If you really want to know why I did what I did, its a rusher. Get up into at least the mid-range of the APGauss due to rolls, while spamming the ERSL without limit.
7 tons also makes it deal adequate melee damage, or at least, for a non-melee weapon equipped Proto. Meh.

So I take it my numbers are horribly off, by the lack of comments?

You can try this out. Although note, they haven't implemented heatsinks, so you'll just have to factor them in yourself.

Just did the calculations myself.

Code: [Select]
7000kg

IS: 700kg
Cockpit: 500kg
Engine: 2000kg (65 rating, 6/9 MP)
Armor: 1600kg (32 points)
Jump: 300kg (3 JJ)
Weapons: 500kg (APGR), 500kg (ERSL)
Ammo: 400kg APGR (16 rounds)
Heatsinks: 500kg (2 HS)
Comes out to a clean 7,000kg, so the protomech is fine.

You know, if you dropped the jump jets, you could fit in protomech myomer boosters and another two points of armor.

Don't actually have the sourcebook with Proto-Myomer boosters in it. Didn't know that. Didn't even know Protos had that option. Again, first time trying Proto design.

+1 or +2 to walking?

They act just like MASC; when on, Run is 2 * Walk MP instead of 1.5.
Your proto could basically run 12 hexes rather than 9. However, whenever you use the booster you have to roll 2d6; on a 2, the pilot takes damage.
