Title: (Answered) Infantry Shields in Total Warfare
Post by: RifleMech on 06 December 2020, 20:49:21
Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask but how do the shields translate from AToW to TW?

AToW page 290
HB Kurita page 189
TacOps page 130

About the only thing I can figure out for sure is that Shields take the place of secondary weapons. Beyond that I don't know how they work in TW. The only example I can think of is the Heavy Riot Infantry in HB: Kurita uses the Bullet Shield and wear their Standard Infantry Kit. They have an Armor Divisor of 2, which is 1 more than listed in TacOps. That would indicate that the Platoon's 8 shields provide an additional +1 to the Platoon's Armor Divisor.
Is that right? If yes, how much protection do the Riot and Heavy Shields provide? +0 and +2 respectively. If no, what do they do in TW?  Protect against Infantry/BA weapons only? Nothing at all? I wouldn't mind using them but they confuse me.
Thanks :)

They dont translate.

:o    :-\   okay  ???  So shields are pointless and the Heavy Riot Infantry drop them and pick up some actual support weapons?  ???

Sorry for the inconvenience.

No prob. I just thought there'd be a TW reason for using them. I guess that's what House Rules are for.  :)

Thanks :)
