I've been away, but now I've returned...What's up?
« on: 13 August 2019, 18:52:05 »
So I've been out of the game for 6ish years.  I picked up the new box set, and then saw the Clan Invasion kickstarter and got excited about Btech again.  Wishing I hadn't sold all of those mechs and books now.

Anyway, any news about the Clans? Specifically Coyote? I don't see a clan thread anymore, so I'm guessing we've gone extinct.  I will say that it's comforting to see this community is still thriving.  I've always felt at home here in the past.

Depends on where you left off.

Post-3067, you get the inner sphere getting embroiled in the word of blake Jihad. The Sphere clans take some damage from this, but it's non-fatal. They get baited into participating in the efforts to stomp out the blakists. Most of it is more or less the bare minimum amount of damage and battle required to make their situations resemble what we get told in MW Dark Age's backstory.

We haven't seen the home-clans since the events of the Wars of Reaving sourcebooks. Basically, while all that is going down in the Inner Sphere, it turns out that a scientist caste conspiracy called The Society has permeated most clans to varying degrees and after the inner sphere clans get abjured and the grand council descends into chaos, The Society decides this is their moment. Presence is heaviest in the Coyotes, most of whom are outright in cahoots with them. The Sphere Clans make a pretty boss exit, with some good old fashioned Wolf/Coyote cooperation going on. Some of the most vicious war that the homeworlds have ever seen, follows in the wake.  The number of clans around gets winnowed quite a bit. And we haven't really seen much of the homeworlds in the wake of that. It goes way deeper than I can do justice in a forum post, but thats probably why it's got a sourcebook.

Well the Coyotes took quite a beating during the Wars of Reaving: they’re down to two Galaxies and not trusted in the slightest. And that the last we heard of the Homeworlds Clans.

If you haven’t read Wars of Reaving (or the Supplemental (which is so-so IMO)) do pick it up. If you have: theirs a mob waiting for IlClan which may shed some light on the Homeworlds (probably not but we can hope) which is going to be out.... eventually.

Either way welcome back trothkin.
