I wish they would do a Super Robot Wars / GGenerations style tactical game for Azur Lane.  You'd get everyone in it.

The Azur Lane [non-mobile] video game comes out soon.  Fair amount of playable characters for most video games, but for Azur Lane it's rather light.  Several no brainers and a couple, "who the hell are you"'s

The English site has yet to update with the full roster. Japanese character page below:

https://www.compileheart.com/alcw/chara/

Notably not yet announced on the ENG page are Hood, Prinz Eugen, Belfast, Portland, Yamashiro, Yukikaze, Unicorn, Laffey, Long Island, Victorious, Vestal, Eldridge, Columbia, Suffolk, San Diego, Shirasuyu, Shiranui, Soryu, Downes, Ning Hai, Norfolk, Hamakaze, Hamann, Haruna, Prince of Wales, Helena, Hornet, Mikasa, U-81, Yorktown, Lexington & Rodney. In addition, 15 ships are planned for DLC, with 5 currently revealed - Taiho, Formidable, Roon, Le Malin, & Sirius.

Nice to see Log Horizon get another season, though I hope they don't change the art style yet again.

As for Database, I would rather see MWAM get a chance to do a new OP.

Waat it's coming back??  I guess took them that long to animate the show.  Your right, it will be jarring if they change the animation style because new company taking over if that the case.
I am still wondering where the story is going aside from getting out of the database/game.
I've followed the manga long since anime stop airing, but i had thought that side story of Goku and her ban of people in China was going to do something more.

More like the author and his tax evasion court case (and its publicity) made the series untouchable for publishers for about five years.

Meanwhile, Nobuhiro Watsuki managed to resume serialization within a year. Ugh.

Watsuki was sentenced to a 1900 Dollar equivalent fine. Touno was sentenced to 10 months prison suspended for a probationary period of three years plus paying the quarter million dollar owed, and the crime was directly related to his creative works.

The publishing of the next LN novel by Touno was postponed for exactly those three years. The treatment of Touno in this regard was identical to that of Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro, whose Toriko was similarly suspended for two years in 2002-2004 after he was sentenced to that period.

Anybody who misses 90's supernatural anime should probably tune in to Kyoko Suiri In/Spectre It's kind of a slow-paced yokai buster series directed by Keiji Gotoh (famous for, well, everything from the mid-nineties). The main cast is a boy who's immortal from eating mermaid flesh (a la Rumiko Takahashi's Mermaid Scar) & a girl who gave up her eye and leg to be something of a yokai medium. Probably my top show after Oshi ga Budokan Ittekuretara Shinu this season!

I've found In/Spectre enjoyable.

The interaction of the leads is fun. This should be a interesting ride.

  • I'm feeling a little sketchy...

Steins;Gate is getting a live-action TV series, apparently to be produced aimed at the US market...

https://www.theouterhaven.net/2020/01/steinsgate-receives-live-action-tv-show/

The production company behind it (Skydance Media) are the ones who did Altered Carbon.

To be honest,  I could see this working if done right.  The science-fiction elements in the series don't require a massive amount of special effects, and while some of the characters and maguffins may require a little adaptation for US audiences, I think it would go over if you have the right team working on it.

The otaku absurdity is the entirety of Steins;Gate's charm, though! Take that away & it's just some generic time-travel story....

I think they could go one of two ways:

1) keep it as it is, as there's at least some awareness of the level of otaku culture, cosplay, etc. in the US

2) Alter it to something more "familiar" to American audiences, like superheroes.  Daru can be a comic book expert, Mayuri cosplaying as superhero characters, Faris's father having driven the expansion of superhero culture in the US, etc.   I don't think the charm and the quirkiness would be lost.

And it's a really good time-travel story.

Railgun has become pretty interesting. :)
We hear that there are tumults and riots in Rome, and that voices are raised concerning the army and the quality of our soldiers. Make haste to reassure us that you love and support us as we love and support you, for if we find that we have left our bones to bleach in these sands in vain, then beware the fury of the legions.

Looks like NextFlicks is getting it's own version of Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell SAC 2045.
Trailer on Youtube.

It CGI, but looks more like Manga. Its definitely looks good.
I am getting to hope they'll do more original stories than redo same plots over and over again.

Pretty sure they annouced that quite a while ago, but as long as Aramaki & Production IG are involved, I'm sure it'll turn out fine. Netflix ponying up the money is all fine & dandy, but it does unfortunately mean I probably won't see it for quite a while.

The more I see of that new Ghost in the Shell, the more I'm sure they made it with the Source Film Maker. What's extra sad is that I've seen better done with SFM.  ???

And is it just me, or is every version of the major since Scarlet Johansson been shorter than she was originally?

I find it hard to get hung about the Major's appearance when her body is 100% artificial & she goes through about 20different units in Man-Machine Interface.

I sure hope they get the whole SAC VA team for the dub.

And I'm sad that they won't be able to get Origa to sing for this one.

I didn't think it looked that bad. However ive cut down on the amount anime i watch. I mainly read manga where art still original and solid to me.

I guess video game graphics now equal to cgi used for animation.

Upon the advice of some friends, I'm watching Hunter X Hunter.

Seems good and the main characters manage to not be annoying.  I notice that a lot of the villains have designs (and voices) that are pretty similar to Trigun.

You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights errant, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

Hataraku Saibou BLACK Animated PV

I know it's probably just a manga ad, but... the Hataraku Saibou (Cells at Work) anime series was announced shortly after they did an animated promo as well, so who knows.

Netflix has gotten a few more anime titles.  Looks like No Game No Life and Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon season 1 are both on it now.  Didn't check to see what else was being offered yet.

Question for the anime-and-Battletech crowd: I'm detailing and painting more Gundam gashapons, and at this point I'm confronted with a choice:

Zeon monoeyes - jewel them like the cockpit of a BattleMech, paint them a single uniform color, other?

I'd go with the uniform lens. It's part of the horrible charm of the Zaku, really.

The unhelpful part of me however says: LED.

It may be a monoeye, but it's a camera lens as well, so jeweling would give it depth.  I have some tiny round jewels I use on occasion for the easier to access heads.
