Following the success of the Tarantula, Corean Enterprises looked into getting a share of the heavy 'Mech market with a new quadrupedal design that would use many of the pioneering technologies and layout in the Tarantula that helped give it a far more steady ride than the infamous Scopiopn.
Although well armed and well protected, the 'Mech wouldn't see the huge sales that Corean hoped for as it developed a reputation for being a maintenance hog as well as having a brutal heat curve which would dissaude some buyers.

It could be a perfectly viable weapon option for the 'Mech as a variant, already got the idea that in the field, pilots replaced 2 of the Small pulsers with 2 x Medium lasers instead, retaining the head mounted SPL for anti-infantry defence.
The big drawback being the removal of the CASE protection due to lack of space and the need to carry enough rounds for the cannon.

This remembers me of a Devastator of my own. I had some leftover Arms from a CAV Weapon pack, so I adden some Gatling Cannon arms to a Devastator (Have plenty of those, since it is one of my Fave mechs). The result is a Devastator with Rotary 5s instead of the Gauss. SN PPCs instead of the Standard ones too. Some more changes. It is a pretty mean short to medium range brawler now. Also Jump capapble, which many don expect in the good ol Deva ;).

RB-8FY Robber Fly

Mass - 25 tons
Max Speed - 96kph

Designed as a 'Bug Hunter' to engage the Wasps and Stinger's fielded so often in House forces, the Robber Fly was in part based on the work done on the prototype Super-Wasp, but it grew into a different kind of machine instead of being as fast and agile as its predecessor. Production started in 3049 with them being fielded by high profile Mercenary forces as well as notable front line units for testing. Unfortunately the testing became very real when faced with the Clans and their superior technology. Designed as a Light Mech hunter-killer, the Robber Fly was in turn outclassed by the Clans Mech's which were usually faster, or considerably more heavily armed.

Instead of hunting down 'Bugs' the Robber Fly was often found supporting friendly scouting assets to provide some heavier firepower and here it saw success and would make a name for itself.

Yeah originally the guns were dispersed (one in each arm and one in the torso) but I wanted it to look more distinct and the big laser cluster does that as most lights tend to have a single weapon in their arm.

Personally I somewhat disagree with the argument against clustering the primary firepower in the one limb. Losing that limb leaves the warrior no reason to stay in the fight and goes a long way to preserve the unit for future engagements.

Ultimately a difference in viewpoint between campaign play and one-off games, I believe, but I thought it should be brought up.

TT gamers love fighting to the death and having machines optimize for such. Why I have become a bigger fan of objective based missions over the years.

Depends on the TT, I'd say.  Wargames are also often fought on tabletop, and those tend to be more objective focused.
