Design Challenge - VSTOL Attack Aircraft
« on: 09 January 2019, 21:43:28 »
Last night a fellow CBT player/friend sent me some pics he'd found online and asked if I could post them in a kind of "Design This" challenge, to see what the various folks around here might do with them.

THAT said, here's the FIFTH: A VSTOL Attack conventional aircraft that has retractable rotors for take-off only

"The SFV-194 is a VSTOL fighter with two rotary nacelles. Each nacelle have one rotor (looks like to V-22 Osprey). After vertical take-off, and transition to horizontal flight mode, three rotor's blades folding to reduce drag. Rotors powered by turboshaft engines, or directly from main engine (looks like to powering method of F-35 lifting fan). Not used as a VTOL, but for take-off and landing only"
