2013-04-25 Redemption Rift, Part 1 [Jason Schmetzer]

Wolf's Dragoons attacks under the banner of the Kuritas!

It is the Dark Age -- 3139 -- and the famed mercenary regiments of Wolf's Dragoons have returned to the employ of House Kurita after a century of enmity. Can the defenses of the Davion border withstand such elite troops?

2013-05-12 Redemption Rift, Part 2 [Jason Schmetzer]

The Dragoons' attack into the Draconis Reach continues!

Lightning assaults and skilled mercenaries have captured for the Draconis Combine several worlds of the Draconis Reach, but old hatreds are rising.

2013-05-19 Redemption Rift, Part 3 [Jason Schmetzer]

The Davions aren't the Dragoons' only enemy!

In this third part of the story, the Dragoons' victories in the Draconis Reach have gained them much--but not it is up to them to hold on to their laurels.

2013-06-02 Redemption Rift, Part 4 [Jason Schmetzer]

The exciting conclusion to the series!

Trapped on a Davion world with no way to escape, how will the striker battalions of Wolf's Dragoons survive? The regiments of House Davion are closing in...

Great read! I can't for the next part.  I was particularly interested in the Dragoon striker companies.  Very cool concept.

But...I am a suscriber. Still not seeing it listed in my new fiction (which I've allowed to get a bit out of hand I admit).

[EDIT]: Doh! Didn't think to actually check the Fiction tab on the main page. Went straight to the BattleShop. Okay...fine...it's been a long day. Will read this though. :)

Very much so! I think this was probably intentional and it works. Regardless - a great read an I can't wait for part 2

I really enjoyed the whole series during the proof-reading... had a very Wolves on the Border feel (though maybe less character investment comparably.)

The Striker companies are a neat idea and it was also pretty cool seeing more non-DA 'mechs, tanks, and stuff running around.

Maybe a bit too much clantech for Wolf Dragoons (exclusively clantech), but yeah. Thats the right of the author...  :)

Can't hardly wait for part2!

Everybody can get ClanTech easy enough in the Dark Age.  I'm not surprised that the Dragoons would spend a bit extra to make sure they had the best kit.

I actually thought that was a good showing by the Author. He managed to make their Clantech very specific. It makes  a whole of let sense how and where they got it and the fact they unlike many other Mercs the actually have a really good reason for access to it.

Yes they have a lot of clan tech - but there's a legit reason and its explained.
Very well played by the author, I say. Similar to Coleman's Avanti's Angels - yes, it's a small unit with small amounts of clan tech, but they got it through x, y and z.

It's a very risky thing, using a sexual assault as a plot point in fiction.  You run the risk of sensationalising, or on the other side of cheapening a very real threat to women.  I think that Jason has really walked that line well here.  Showing the reactions of a variety of characters, most of whom were angry for different reasons (and having the actual perpetrator of the assault regret his actions to a degree) all helped, but also not allowing the act to dominate this chapter, yet still hang over it like a cloud gave the story a real sense of versimilitude and sensitivity towards the real-life impacts of such attacks.

The black cats were mentioned as a regiment too (with only one line battalion, one training and one reserve), and it seems that they've got at least a regiment's worth of striker battalions too

You misread that. Alpha has three battalions, one of which is the Black Cats and the other two are training and reserve.

I have a technical question. I let my account expire for a bit and just renewed it but part four isn't showing up for me, is there a reason for this?

That's weird. The last three pieces of fiction (from top down) at this time are The Marshal Way I, The Nellus Academy Incident 4/I and Redemption Rift IV (followed by RR III and II, and The Gambit in Dream II). When was your account inactive?

just before part four came out, but everything since was in my account. I ended up just buying it from the battleshop, so it's all good.

"Face it - MW:DA had, for its run, massively greater commercial success than BattleTech's ever had. Over two million click-base minis - want to guess where the number of BT minis comes in? I'd guess on the order of a few percent of that. While BT has survived for 30 years, we've never had the same number of players at any point. The pity was that unlike BT, MW:DA ended up being run by businessmen, not game fanatics." - Worktroll

If I sign up for BattleCorp now, can I go back and read the Redemption Rift series?
No. Think of BattleCorps like a magazine - you (only) get whatever gets published during your subscription period, plus unlimited access to the news archive and forums. And - but don't quote me on that - I think you get a certain amount of "current" fiction pieces upon subscription.

As a subscriber you can purchase "back issues", i.e. older BattleCorps publications, through the BattleShop. And just like for all other purchases you get a 5% subscriber discount (even though you need to be a subscriber to purchase back fiction in the first place).

If you're specifically interested in Redemption Rift then you're looking at the costs of a subscription (with 1 month costing the smallest amount of money, 6 months being the cheapest per month, and 3 months somewhere in the middle) plus the costs of purchasing the four individual parts via BattleShop.
