------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
     Prior to the start of the FedCom Civil War, the AFFC Quartermaster's
office began looking around for a way of boosting its militia firepower on
water-rich worlds.  A wet navy unit, while of limited use overall, would be a
boost on worlds that bordered the Periphery, since they were more prone to
raids from pirates.

==Capabilities:==
     Powering this sleek hydrofoil to over 110 kph at full throttle, the
Nissan Fusion engine also provides power to the Gawaine's main gun:  the
Johnston Parti-Cannon in the turret.  Mounted just above the Johnston is a
Devastator Series-07 LRM rack, slaved to an Artemis fire control system.  An
extra-large ammo bin holds 24 reloads for this weapon.
     Should the opposition decide to submerge, three Holly Derringers,
converted to fire torpedoes, cover the vessel's port, starboard and rear
quarters.
     Finally, for protection against incoming missles, four Mainfire
PointDefense anti-misile systems have been installed.  One system protects
each quarter of the vessel.
     Whilst its speed makes targeting it difficult, it also carries 6 and a
half tons of Valiant Scutum Ferro-Fibrous armor around its hull.

==Variants:==
     No variants are planned at this time.

==Deployment==
     As units are produced, they are slotted for water-rich worlds, primarily
on the borders of the Periphery.

I have to say, that normally I am not a fan of hydrofoils, but this I like! It has defensive capability and long range punch allowing it to support shore operations.

The AMS systems provide both incoming defense and remind me of current warship models, but they can also be used for point defense as well (i.e. in dock and a Locust walks up, start hitting it with the AMS.

My one concern is that there is no close range fire power to make up for PPC and LRM minimum range, but that is compensated for by 1) being water borne allowing torpedoes to hit anything in the water; and 2) speed.

Good work!

I'm glad you like it; it was intended to be a fast-moving fire support vessel.

Usually I try to stay away from SRT's, but here they make perfect sense.
