Title: (Answered) Grasshopper 7K
Post by: jshdncn on 16 December 2017, 08:54:15
I believe the Grasshopper 7K card is incorrect. It has 2 Snub-nosed PPCs, 2 light PPCs, and 1 er medium laser. That does 3.5 damage at medium range, modified to 3.2 for heat. I think the medium range value needs to be corrected to 4.

Questions regarding the MUL and data shown on the MUL go http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=47774.msg1372489#new.

Snub-nose PPC x2 = .65 x 2 = 1.3
Light PPC x2 = .5 x2 = 1.0
ER ML = .5

2.8 at medium range.
It is 3.5 at short range (where the snub-nose PPCs get 1 each, rather than .65).
But 3.5 (x 32 heat sink capacity) / (39 heat - 4) = 3.2, so it should be 4 at short range.
Increasing the PV by 1 as well.

The value of .65 seems wrong for the snub-nose PPC. I recognize that it is the value in the book, but the math seems wrong; .65 is the average of its medium and long range damage values. This doesn’t take into account the advantages of its extremely long short range.  Short range of 9 hexes is easily medium range when converted to alpha strike, the value should reflect that.

The value should be ((10+8+5)/3)/10=.77 An argument could be made that the range is effectively a targeting computer or pulse modifier as well. If that’s the case it becomes (((10x1.1)+8+5)/3)/10=.8

As for the short range you forgot the light PPCs minimum range. Per the rules as written I was wrong entirely, thanks for your time.

I did forget the short range on the light pics, thanks.
