The new Whammer and Marauder.
« on: 31 December 2016, 18:55:55 »
Just purchased the Kurita combat manual, and it dawned on me that its been feckin ages since the new mechs were shown off, is there a way to actually buy them yet or will I have to go on with catalyst taunting me with every new book release?   ;)

Plan on being taunted for a while unless you want a shadow hawk or ostscout.
Release the Reptar mini! Or I shall have to make it myself.

Well I just added wasp to my purchase list of ostscout, axman 1N, axman 2N & various infantry and battle armor as base decorators.

Thanks for that.

I think they're saving the Whammy and Marauder for last. Just to taunt us.  :P The good news is that they'll hit sooner than later, and I think they're going to release one classic mech per quarter until they're all out in the wild.
At Comstar we listen. It's that simple.

Or they want to make sure they get it right, Anthony Scroggins was kind of critical about how the Marauder 4X mini turned out.

It never even occured to me that these would be released via IWM, I expected them to be in plastic and exclusive to the Catalyst web store thingy.

Pleasant suprise indeed.

Cheers guys.

The MAD-4X miniature debacle is 100% my fault. I misinterpreted the line-art when creating orthos for Mr. Behrle to sculpt from.
I failed to go directly to the source for clarification on a few items, and as such; we have the current sculpt as a result... http://lky13.deviantart.com/art/Marauder-4X-Blue-Print-414898109
Not to fret though; I'm out... and, Anthony has only improved since the 4X-- what with the re-classic MAD 'n all.

Nope, don't think it was you or your orthos either...

But I'm not going to get into it.

I'm enjoying the return of the Classics. I eagerly await my new BattleMaster and Phoenix Hawk.

Plus, I like how the new Phoenix Hawk head reminds me of the Striker Eureka jaeger from Pacific Rim.

I must have missed something... What was wrong with the MAD-4X?

I'm gonna echo the above comment. Cuz I thought that Marauder was pretty sweet too.

I think the mini looked fine and close enough to the artwork. If any then there is a fault in the fluff to this design as there are just a few of these mechs ever produced. And that in a IS nation with few fans. There are not many chances to play with that piece.

I believe that's CGL's ultimate goal but as they have stated multiple times, getting new plastic mini's has been a pain for them considering they don't have the same working relationship with any overseas plastic companies as they do with IWM.

Just look at what happened with Leviathans as proof of this.

Or Wasp.
I've seen a couple mentions of this now, but haven't seen a 2017 release schedule from IWM. Was there an official announcement, and is there a date/quarter?

Thought the problem with the -4X was a fault in the legs, for a lot of them the mini had breaks at the 'knees' which is more about how the metal was put in.

And I do not know about you, but the Marauder 4X made a great MAD-9M2.

It's been a year and a half since the prototype miniatures of the Warhammer were on display at GenCon.  Anyone know why Ironwind hasn't been able to put them to market?

Because it's not up to IWM. They had no part in the making of the prototypes.

Yeah . . . IIRC the word is they are going to come out in a product first in plastic except in a few special cases like the Shadow Hawk.

Pure speculation, but it appears that they're scheduled to release one per quarter. Looks like the metal releases will be a steady trickle regardless of any future plastic products. I can't guess on the order of them, but we've seen a more popular design (Shad), less popular (Scout), and a more popular (Wasp) is scheduled for Q1.

Okay, I am hoping IWM can release 1 per quarter. It'd be a shame if they have to wait for Catalyst to start selling plastics first.  Based on Catalysts past record wed probably be waiting another year or two.

Of how many classics do we talk? If that line should cover all the unseen designs, we have to wait many years, if only one per quarter will be released. :(

With 22 designs of the 3025 time period typically defined as unseens, of which 2 are already available, 1 is slated for the next quarter, 2 more presented here, 17 more would be waiting for an unknown time. With only 1 per quarter this would stretch the time period to the end of 2021.
Well, let us hope it doesn't take THAT long...
