Noob question: How do I set up artillery?

How do I set up a battle with artillery support?  I can't find any.  No Long Tom units, no off-board artillery.

I just want to get a feel for how artillery works.  I hear it's very powerful.

EDIT: After restarting MegaMek, the units show up.  I guess I had to restart for the filters to refresh.  Still can't find where to set up off-board artillery, though.

Configure Unit -> Deployment Tab -> check the 'Deploy Offboard' checkbox.

Something I wondered about before too, but never tried to implement. I like 50x50+ so normally it is on board. Amazing the work you all have done on MM.

How do I change ownership of a bot? I want to deploy and use the turrets my ally is given.

Mark all the ones you want, right click and change owner, iirc.

Ah yes, I was thinking there was something I could do in the command line during a fight, but this works fine too. Artillery is fun!

I have two thumpers and one sniper in a group off board but still no replanned arty strikes before the game :(

Game Options -> Advanced Combat -> "Specify the number of pre-designated artillery auto-hit hexes per map area" should be a number more than 0.

been a while since I messed with it, but 'map area' I think refers to the overall map not the 16x17 standard BT maps that are put together in 3x3 or 4x4 set ups.
