AC/5-ML Cartel: Huzzah for mediocrity!
« on: 01 June 2012, 17:35:28 »
After all, is 50kg of HEAP at 540 meters not good enough for you?

Sometimes I think we get too serious about the game.  Flaws are fun.  In 3025, everyone was about the AC/5.  Low heat, big mass, explosive ammo, but solid against the low armored 'mechs and fighters of the era.  What's your favorite champion of the mediocre?

Probably the Clint for sheer fun, but the WVR-6R is not bad either, and easily fixed with a SHS for ML swap.

Marauder. 8)

Shame it's Unseen, and thus can't be posted here.

Reminds me of an old campaign- really old when I was new to the game and not cursed to be eternal gamemaster.

A player complained ICly to the techs that his MAD-3R overheats too easily and the ammo is too explosive and there is no chance to use it all up in an avarage battle.

What he wanted was something like a Davion Marauder, what he got was a Marauder with AC5s in the place of its PPCs.  :D

No more overheating and the Ammo barely lasted 7 turns....

replace all the PPCs with AC/5s! and then you can pull out excess sinks for ammo and more MLs! it's a perfect fit!  O0
by reading the above you agree to waive all rights to lawsuit over results of this advice including public embarassment, floggings and having the first awesome to have it's name revoked, good idea not valid in local campaigns, some assembly required. why did you read all this again? offer does not cover acts of herb, soda, or falchion but what does

I want to thank you for inspiring me to pick up my FCE project again.  Here's your Awesome with AC/5s.  Of course, the museum world doesn't allow such silliness as medium lasers, but hey!

Use a thumbnail or just link to the image when it's above, say, 750 pixels in width, please.

This actually reminds me of the one and only time I got my hands on a Dire Wolf.

It's October, 3060, and the merc company I'm part of have been contracted by the SLDF to help in Operation Bulldog. Our mission, travel along the outside of the Smoke Jag's Occupation Zone and catch any stragglers. So after a fierce battle with some Jags, I had lost my mech, but we had salvaged a Dire Wolf minus it's weapons. So the CO tells me, the next supply dropship, my mech has priority. Guess what showed up, AC/5's and Medium Lasers...some still with their 3025-era stock tags.

So I went to war with a Clan Omnimech carrying 50 tons of the stuff.  :-\ my Dire Wolf didn't last long after that.

because the next battle we faced battle-hardened Jags, and I lost both side torsos to ammo explosions.

Gentlemen, these signature bars are 100 pixels high.  That means you have room for one line of text with no empty lines and no links.  (Yes, the underlining on the link puts it over the signature size limit.)  Please keep that in mind when designing your signatures.
