DCMS Planetary Raid Campaign (Pic Heavy)

My friend Rimp and I just started a new campaign that began with an aerospace battle.  The defending militia aerospace squadron attacked the invading DCMS forces as they were forced to slow down through a moving asteroid belt.








Long range exchanges of LRM fire


Both sides converge and fight it out.


DCMS Union launches a Sholagar.


The more maneuvarable Sabres get the jump on a Shilone.


The defending militia aerofighters set up an attack run on the Union dropship.


The Transit is brutally savaged but does some heavy damage to the aft of the dropship.


The Sholagar fails a piloting roll and goes spiraling out of control and off the board.


Overview of the battle.


One of the Sabres is heavily damaged and drifts into range of the dropship.  The dropship vaporizes the poor Sabre.


The DCMS Shilones finally maneuver around to get some shots on the Eagle and Thunderbird.


The Transit was heavily damaged after trading fire with the Union dropship and it is too slow to catch up.


Both sides trade more fire.  The Eagle is heavily damaged, as is one of the Slayers.


Once through the asteroid belt, the Union dropship accelerates away from the fight. Both Shilones also escape with minimal damage.  The Sholagar and remaining Slayer head back towards the jumpship.



The frustrated militia forces are able to catch the damaged Slayer.

Final Results:

DCMS - 1 kill (Sabre - vaporized).  Heavy damage to Transit. Moderate damage to Eagle and Thunderbird. Light damage to remaining Sabre.
Militia - 1 kill (Slayer - captured). Light/moderate damage to Union (Aft). Light damage to Shilone.

9:00 AM:  The DCMS Union-class dropship lands 20 kilometers east of their objective.  The DCMS warriors quickly get into formation.



9:05 AM:  Here you can see the DCMS 'mech lances (A, B and C) take separate routes towards Soltsy.  The Slayer and Shilone make a strafing run against a Hetzer Wheeled Assault Gun tank in Soltsy, catching the vehicle in the open and significantly damaging the tank's motive system. 



9:10 AM:  The DCMS mechs move closer to Soltsy while the defending militia forces stay put.  A lance of Hetzers and Pos are in the city, while a company of infantry and several weapons blocks and automated turrets defend the military base to the NW of Soltsy.

The defending militia aerospace fighters finally catch up and the opposing fighters make head-on passes at each other in altitude. The militia Eagle and DCMS Shilone are both savaged and both fail piloting rolls. Fortunately their altitude was high enough no one crashed into the trees. 


9:15 AM:  The DCMS fire support lance crosses the river into Soltsy.  The DCMS Rifleman takes some heavy damage from a patrolling Monitor naval vessel before it can sprint across the bridge to safety. 






The fire support lance makes it to Soltsy and will engage the defending Hetzers and Po tank lances when we continue!

Hetzers and Pos, nasty low cost competition you got there.  Becareful, that could get pretty ugly.

This is an amazingly impressive setup, love the use of the map, and those aerospace minis are beautiful.  Can't wait to see more!
