Infantry company, 7th Donegal Guards
« on: 05 April 2012, 20:33:05 »
I present for your enjoyment a typical infantry company of the 7th Donegal Guards, as might have been seen anywhere from the late FCCW to the fall of Terra to Devlin Stone.

The company consists of:
- two Laser Infantry platoons
- one SRM Infantry platoons
- one platoon Gray Death BA (three squads standard, one squad scout)
- one platoon quad BA (three squads Fenrir, one squad Rottweiler)
- a heavy mortar support platoon
- a towed Thunderbolt-10 launcher for anti-aircraft cover
- the CO's private BattleMech (NSR-9SS Nightstar)

Some details: all exclusively drawn from MW:DA or MW:AoD pieces (of which I have a couple of gallons). THe Laser Infantry squads had the right jackboots, and the helmets were near enough. The Gray Death BAs were unmodified. I had some fun with the quads:

I'd never particularly liked the Fenrir, but now I'm forced to conclude the only thing about it which previously ruined it was the pair of whipped-cream dispensers mounted under the name "Small Pulse Lasers". Those tanks were just wrong. Tanks removed, and other weapons added, I think they look totally hot. In order, twin SPL, SRM4, and Heavy Mortar/MG variants.

The Rottie was hacked from a Fenrir. Size is probably way too big, but the "tail up head down" pose and different head worked IMHO. Looks good on the table.

The support Thunderbolt launcher is tasked directly from MW:DA. The Heavy Mortar comes from the back of a MW:AoD Centaur BA stand, and I appropriated some loose infantry figures and scratched up the ammo boxes.

Comments always welcomed!

I hope that's a breech-loading mortar...

Nah, great job there.  Very inspiring!
Thought I might get a rocket ride when I was a child.          We are the wild youth,                                And through villages of ether
But it was a lie, that I told myself                                          Chasing visions of our futures.                   Oh, my crucifixion comes
When I needed something good.                                         One day we'll reveal the truth,                    Will you sing my hallelujah?
At 17, I had a better dream; now I'm 33, and it isn't me.      That one will die before he gets there.       Will you tell me when it's done?
But I'd think of something better if I could

Fenrir are a nasty battle armor to face. Got my butt handed to me in a combined arms game. Just remember to bring the sticks (sticks being large pulse lasers)
One score and seven years ago, our FASAs brought forth upon this world a new hobby: conceived in giant stompiness, and dedicated to the proposition that all miniatures are created equal (except in scale).

There are ammo clips near the base, you can see one in the top photo. Each round comes with a small pyrotechnic charge in the base, to drive it partway up the tube, so it can drop back down on the striker ... ;)
