95% of the people playing the game won't even it's a blood Spirit Mech

Because... it's not a Blood Spirit mech. It's a Star Adder mech... ;)

Twin high mounts for sniping. Should see lots of these on the battlefield at launch.

Apparently the special version colours are the same paint scheme the Blood Asp used in MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf, so blame the console kiddies I guess.

Hey, Mech Assault 2 was damn awesome! Plasma PPCs were hilariously powerful in single player campaign.

...Didn't even remember the paint scheme of Blood Asp. But now that you mention it, yeah, the special paint job is basically the same.

I was hoping it would look more like the 3rd sculpt of the mini.  I don't like the way the legs and feet look, and the torso isn't beefy enough.  I really hope the 3D modelers take some liberties with this design.

boy if i had an desire to get back into the game, i'd be rushing to do it before this came out. that's gonna be a draining couple weeks to play around.

I really hope the 3D modelers take some liberties with this design.

Oh look, my monkey's paw just curled again! Surely this bodes well for all!

Wait....looks like it gone on night on the town.

I don't recognize those maps locations? Where are they taking those screen shots.

The shoulder cannons are too short.  If I pre-ordered this and saw that I'd be pretty upset.

I haven't been able get on much lately, there was one of those Blood Asps in one of the games i was on.  It didn't leave lasting impression since there were many i saw in circulation.   The Solaris Map is pretty tough, with all those tight corner and overhead rail tracks.  I got murdered pretty brutally on one those maps.

With Asp in the mix, it be pretty bad news if it's balanced right.

I agree with that, and apparently people have been voting with their wallets as PGI is planning on fixing it. Announced on twitter with preview shots of the refined model:

It's too bad Gauss Rifles are so troublesome to use in MWO, it like one signature weapons for Blood Asp's prime.  Some guy said he prefer to use UAC/10s over using them.

I think the Gauss rifles are fine.  I find the best way to use them is to stack a bunch of range nodes in the skill tree and slug it out from 700m away.  You're not as vulnerable to return fire and you can dish out some serious damage.

On the Blood Asp though, I'm happy overall with the changes they made to it.  I would've been happier with just gun barrels as long as the housing iteslf and not extend the housing itself since it creates a much larger side torso hitbox.  But I think this will find a home in my MWO hangar now :)

"charge and release to fire" is always going to be underwhelming as a FPS mechanic. i play a LOT of sniper in TF2 and i know from experience that it leaves you with about a third of a second delay from when you try to fire and when the weapon actually does fire due to the fact even gaming mice aren't designed for that.

and a third of a second is actually huge when you're trying to accurately hit at longer ranges in videogames, thanks to having to compensate for lag.

Also makes the exploding gauss rifle mechanic a little dumb. Why does it explode? Because of the charged capacitors. But... the capacitors don't charg until you fire.  ???
