Shrinkage is 1-dimensional, and as such, this thing will be losing height, not width.  Keep that in mind.
Seems like the Beginner Set/Lance Pack minis shrunk all around, not just along the mold lines.  Those were near completely metal masters.

Hover at 11mm and Tracked at 9mm look the best options to me.  Excitement building!

Hull dropped 10%, front track wheel moved forward a bit.

I noticed that as well. Always wanted to ask Mike about it when I was out at the factory but forget when I am there. Usually distracted by looking for stuff.

Ortho, I rendered the top view on this one without measuring width just doing what I thought looked right.  It ended up 16mm long and 5mm wide.  I tried it @ 12mm but it looked stupid.  7.5 looks okay but I prefer 5mm.

I prefer the 7.5 mm one, the 5mm just looks too narrow, maybe a compromise?

5 is way too narrow.  7.5 is a little too wide.  6.5 looks pretty good.  I definitely wouldn't go any narrower than that.

6.5mm for sure !

Question.
Why are the turrets off center?
And on the wheeled one, why does it appear to be over a side door?
That just doesn't seem like how the internals would be laid out.

I would guess that has a lot to do with IRL the sub-components of the turret that are in the body.

Talking about doors, will all the APCs have them on both sides? They are a bit ambiguous now.

The APC in Aliens had a sliding door on only one side and a driver door on the other and the turret was on a track and moved around the hull and had no internals. The Hover will have a big hatch/ramp on the back.  It looked to me that the guns on the turrets or the whole turret were off to one side on the tracked and wheeled APC's, just my interpretation of the art.  No waitaminit I have it! It's so they can depress the guns lower on that side to better cover the troops as they are coming and going.  :D

Wow B-3! these look great!
Epitaph on an Army of Mercenaries

These, in the day when heaven was falling,      Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
The hour when earth's foundations fled,         They stood, and earth's foundations stay;
Followed their mercenary calling,               What God abandoned, these defended,
And took their wages, and are dead.             And saved the sum of things for pay.

Loose's art took a lot of liberty with physics.  For example, how does a wheeled vehicle whose front wheels clearly have no wheel wells make turns?  Trying to translate some of that stuff into three dimensions must be a challenge.  I'm really liking what I see so far, and look forward to the finished product on my painting desk.

They are really more towards the center of the vehicle w/ room behind the armor panel?
Yeah that its !

I figured the rear wheels turned.

Yeah, I suppose rear-wheel steering is a possibility.

I like the compromise size at 6.5mm.

Man, I missed a lot in this thread.
On the one hand, I regret dropping out for a while and not keeping up with the updates.
On the other hand, I agree with all of the decisions made so far.  ;D

I do still kinda wish they could be slightly larger. (Forgetting how other Battletech minis scale, at a "generic" 6mm scale, the wheeled version is now only about 7 scale feet wide.) I know I'm in the minority though.  :-X

I would gladly make them larger.  Sculpting these this small might cause dain bramamge. :D

Do you sculpt in Green Stuff? I wasn't sure whether you worked "traditional" or with CAD.

I hear Tom Meier uses a microscope...    8)

Scaled up slightly, but with the same proportions, the wheeled transport might be about 7.3x18, but seriously, the current designs look really solid.

I hand sculpt in brass, plastic, brown putty, whatever gets the job done.  I use a jeweler's visor with an x5 lens......for now...

Hi guys, this is my first contact with the fan financing of BT miniatures.

How does this work? Is it like kickstarter? The guys that "pledged" get the figures / money they spent as credit and then the mass production run begins? When can I as a non-pledger get my hands on the miniature? Can you say this in a general way? Is there an overview of what figures I could support or of the figures that were fan-financed during the last months? I read something about a Black Knight with a sword somewhere but lost the link. Is this the only place where figures are "kickstarted"? I only saw 1 kickstarter entry by IronWindMetals concerning some Comstar LAMs.

Thanks in advance for answering these dozens of questions :D
