Are you kidding?  They're doing well to win games that aren't rigged.

One of the titans has fallen.

Dan Rooney died today. 84 years old, and greatly active in the League since the 60s.

Maybe it's just my station showing, but if "payed millions to play for a bad team" is a ruined life, sign me up for the next one.

The Chiefs took Pat Mahomes, and I for one am excited to see what happens when the funslinging starts.

They moved up to far to get him if you ask me. Mahomes would still have been there at their original pick, most likely.

I'm not sure that's what would have actually happened, but even if it was, the way it played out there's no way he doesn't start after Smith's contract expires.  Ithink it was the GM saying to the fans that Mahomes is going to be the franchise QB going forward.  The guy has basically unlimited ceiling (he can chuck it 50 yards in the air throwing off his back foot on the run, who else can do that?), and complaints about Alex Smith have been circulating for a couple seasons.

I think he does just fine, personally, even if the three dozen screens per game is really frustrating to watch.

Mahomes isn't going to be the screen guy.  He'll be fun to watch even if he goes up in flames.

The Bears threw a whole bunch of picks just to move up one spot, and who did they draft? Ugh...

I will repeat what I say every year for the NFL Draft: Unless you're doing the scouting of a player, or you're in a team's draft room, you have no idea what is involved in the decision making process for getting a player. Included in that is declaring a player would be available later in the draft, as draft boards change with every single pick.

Multiple teams have had good drafts so far but I believe Drew Pearson won the draft.

Yeah, he sure did one hell of a job trolling the Philly crowd. The Browns are doing a good job with this draft, which is counter to the past decade or so.

Both would probably feel pretty solid about taking on the Rams starters, I suppose.

Or the second half of the Super Bowl, if you're in Atlanta.

With the recent CTE news, is that that much of a surprise that they'll keep their top tier players only for the most crucial stuff...

CTE news? Oh, you mean that useless study that was released last month? Where only one brain of the hundred or so donated brains of former football players who showed some level of neurological problems before their death had CTE? I was shocked to see that people who were experiencing mental issues were found to have a defect in the structure of their brain. Well, much like Fry, not very shocked.

Just slightly backwards yeah.  Good thing there haven't been a rash of homicides, suicides, and players quitting over the issue or anything for the past few years; it'd be a terrible shame if there really were a medical issue that was killing players.

Seriously, have a little respect next time.

Yes, a missing word from my sentence did change the meaning around. I meant to say that one brain did not show signs of CTE in former football players that were already experiencing neurological issues prior to their death. Doesn't change my position, that people are jumping to conclusions based on a single study. The article that JHB linked to even covers this:

"Mez immediately warned of a few caveats to this study. The researchers didn’t design the study to estimate CTE’s prevalence in football, nor are they trying to establish how football playing can change the severity of the symptoms. There’s a selection bias, meaning all of these players donated their brains to science because there was a worry they might have suffered from the disease—nearly all of them already showed symptoms."

The entire purpose of the study was very simple: what do the brains of people who were subjected to repeated head trauma look like?
