This thread will be full of random dates and times for the various games I run out of Carolina Comics, located at 305 S.W. "C" Ave, Lawton, OK.
-
I will try to attend.
-
Man had good times at Ft, Sill.

Man had good times at Ft, Sill.
Hoping to have more. Looking forward to next Sunday's game. If there's a large enough turnout might start doing this more often.
-
I used to go to Articon out there at the Caisson Rec center decades ago. We played at Gameshack there on north Ft Sill Blvd. This was like 93-96ish.
I may have another old friend that played in highschool talked into coming by.
-
I may have another old friend that played in highschool talked into coming by.
Awesome. The more the merrier. Every time I've stopped by Carolina Comics there's been some one different saying "you're running a Battletech game?" and then getting a nostalgic look in their eyes. So I'm cautiously optimistic for a good turn out.
-
Hope it works out for you! I'm from Clinton (hour north, give or take a few minutes) and played ball in Lawton/Altus a few times in high school; never knew there was much of anything down there. Did the OKC scene for a bit but am now down in DFW. Good luck!
-
Savage - I hope to come down and play with yall sometime. I race radio controlled cars around DFW a few times a year.
-
Ft. Sill, boy does that bring back some great memories! Hooah!
-
Maybe the DFW gangs could carpool a group up to Lawton >:D
-
Maybe the DFW gangs could carpool a group up to Lawton >:D
That would be amazing. I keep meaning to make a trip down to Dallas for one of the games down there but never seem to make it.
-
It would probably have to be something like the 2009 GarageCon or everyone meet up at SoonerCon or TexiCon (OKC or Ft Worth respectively.) I love me some BattleTech, but I don't even drive down to Arlington (about an hour plus for me from where I live in Prosper TX) as the drive isn't worth the time I get to actually play. A big planned event? Yes, I'd easily be more tempted!
Back in 2009 GarageCon was held in an events center in Plano with Charlie Tang and William Pennington running several events as well as a painting contest and we played until eight or nine with a start time of nine or ten in the morning IIRC. The WoB vs DCMS/Nova Kittens vs Ghost Bears was a very memorable game for me :D
-
if all goes well I may it to Soonercon this summer,
most likely wont game much, too drunk catching up with all my co-conspirators
from ages past on the original Soonercon
-
Next Grinder will be on January 12, 2014 from 1-6pm at Carolina Comics located at 305 S.W. C Ave in Lawton. Once again, I will be providing all materials required.
-
Sounds good.
-
Despite a run in with a rogue deer the other night, I will be there tomorrow.

Those are the worst type of deer. Glad to hear you'll be there. Also, Carolina Comics is now stocking several more books, miniatures and hex packs!

Have not yet decided point values, but Faithless has volunteered to do a Binary or Trinary of Clan Jade Falcons vs some of my WOB Shadow Division forces. I may be also designing a few other armies for other players/scenarios etc. I'll update more as I drill down on the specifics. Any tips/suggestions/questions are always welcome.
-
I will see if I have the proper mechs to represent one of the premade house units in alpha strike as well. If Dave is able to play I can put together sheets for his Clan Wolf star I just finished.
-
Sounds good. I guess I need to place some orders for a few more goodies between now and then, oh shucks.
-
225 points per army, with a cap on units of around 12-15. Sounds reasonable. I think. What do I know, I enjoy a faction that venerates toasters.
-
I'll be providing House Liao, Steiner, Mario and Davion forces for people to use that don't have any forces ready. I may be able to cobble together a pirate force or two as well.
-
I will have my CJF force and will try to throw together a Wolf force for my friend Dave.
-
Event has been postponed until a later date due to inclement weather. I'll let everyone know the new date when I get a chance to schedule it.
-
Once it is rescheduled I will see if I can attend. I will try to have more tea light smoke markers made too. I ran out of hot glue after about 2 when I was at my mom's.
-
Ok, game has been moved to 2.16.14, same details, alpha strike rules, company-sized, 1-6 p, at Carolina Comics.
-
Sorry for the short notice. Sunday, March 9th, 1-6 PM.
50006000BV per person, objective-based game. Not giving any details on the objective(s) though. It'll be a surprise.
-
Too bad i'm doing family stuff up in Clinton or I might try to venture down :D
-
Too bad i'm doing family stuff up in Clinton or I might try to venture down :D
Family stuff can wait! :D
-
I will be there and I think Dave will too. I am bringing a few extra clan units incase someone wants to run them.
-
Next game will be April 13 from 1-6pm at Carolina Comics. Looking like we may be doing a Level 1 Succession Wars-type scenario. I'll post more details as they're decided.
-
Looking forward to it.
-
Dave was asking me what the setup would be so he could get sheets ready. Maybe 5k intro tech with bv adjusted pilots? And then one objective for each side?
-
It should be fun. I will have a few spare armies with me too for anyone who wants to jump in.
-
We had a good 9k vs 9k bc2 intortech battle Sunday. It was a good time. We had one next player that we conned into throwing some dice and another gentleman that has got a game or two under his belt. We used some special rules where sinkholes could form in the first open hex you enter running. If you rolled 10+ on 2d6 it was sinkhole time. You had a chance to roll a psr of piloting +1 to avoid the fall. The gentleman that was playing his first game had horrible luck with the sinkholes. But I think he still had a good time.
Shop1ift mentioned he may be out of pocket for the May game. So, I may be coming down to throw something together.
-
Lol, I know the store . . . start it up about three years after I leave the area, of course. Want to see how many folks are in the OKC area as it is . . .
-
Colt, I am from Lawton but live in OKC. I have about 2 other guys that play up here. Their schedules are kinda varied.
-
We are going to try and get a game scheduled soon. Stay tuned.
-
Lol, I know the store . . . start it up about three years after I leave the area, of course. Want to see how many folks are in the OKC area as it is . . .
There was some games going on at Game HQ on 89th and S. Penn last year... 'bout all I know though lol
-
Timeframe is my problem- I am off Friday & Thursday rather than the weekend.
-
I would be down to meet up some Thursday or Friday at Game HQ and play. I may be able to get a few more involved with some warning. Or another shop if it is more convenient.
Most of the games I am aware of at Game HQ were Grinders that Jonathon hosted. We did do one Friday night game to try and make it more centralized. Also, it was an excuse to get tacos from the taco place in the shopping center.
-
Next game will be Sunday, June 29th.
-
Love to set something up here in OKC, let me check with the wife.
-
That'd be fun. Have Word of Blake, will travel! :D Working on a 44th SD and a Republic Standing Guard unit, be nice to show them off (and use them)
-
I have various Clan units that would play nice with them lol.
I am trying to fill out my Falcon, Wolf and Ghost Bear trinaries + 2 stars of battlearmor each. The Falcon trinary is most complete. With Ghost Bear unit getting closer.
-
Colt, what units do you like to play?
-
Details for the upcoming game:
When - Sunday, June 29th 1pm-6pm
Where - Carolina Comics, located at 305 S.W. "C" Ave, Lawton, OK.
Details - Up to 2 units with a combined BV2 of 5,000, after adjusting for piloting/gunnery. Free for all with the "PowerUps" optional rules from "TacOps PowerUps" which can be located here: http://catalystgamelabs.com/download/previews/13-TacOps-PowerUps.pdf
-
I play the Warden Wolves, Hell's Horses, Goliath Scorpions, FedCom/Suns, League- Regulans or perhaps Rim, and mercs . . . mercs in the Chaos March is my primary campaign at the time.
Do not play much past the start of the Jihad (have not advanced that far), but I like beating on Blakists, Falcons and Cappies. Hellions are a close runner up . . .
-

Well, are you in luck! I just so happen to play the Blakists and the Cappies, and love beating on Clanners! :D
-
Colt, did you see the Grinder scheduled for Soonercon later this month? Jonathon is doing one on Friday too. That is most likely the day a friend and I will go since he is off Friday's.
Here recently I have played CJF and Steiner. But im working on some Wolves, Ghost Bear's, and Kurita at the moment.
-
Nope, I do not get anything about Soonercon- only link I have is ancient.
-
Here you go.

Also, I just picked up the TW/BLR Box Set which I would love to use- I figure it will also throw out a good look for anyone watching. I am thinking I will spray the white primer on the Intro minis and have them on hand if we get any pick up players.
What sort of scenario do you have in mind?

I just got the Wolf and Blake and Sword and Dragon books, might run some campaigns out of those. Also been meaning to get the Chaos Campaign book for some custom campaigns.
-
Oh I have a lot of the old scenario books . . .
Falcon & Wolf
Tukayyid
Blakists invading Terra
Dragon Roars
and I think one more . . .
-
It is getting closer. I know Dave and I are in for Sunday.
-
It was an interesting time, too bad I had to work so much of it. I was thinking about using the Intro set to run the Lawyers, Money & Guns as the first scenario uses all mechs from the box, other scenarios using a few in each.
-
We had a good game today with 6 players. We used the optional powerup rules. It made things quite interesting. Next time We will probably tweak the rules a bit.
The next game is tentatively for Sunday July 20th @ Carolina Comics. I will let Shoplift fill in the specifics for what kinda of game we will do.
I thought I took more than this, but I guess I did not.
A few pics from today. (https://plus.google.com/+BillyCaldwell/posts/hwpi8Vz4CbZ)

It was a lot of fun. Not sure what I want to do next month yet, but I'll figure something out. Here are some more photos - http://imgur.com/a/HLkAy/ (http://imgur.com/a/HLkAy/)

July 20th
1-6pm
Carolina Comics
Scenario will be early Clan Invasion, Clan Jade Turkey (sorry) FALCON will be attempting to take control of a city from a determined IS force. 15K BV2 adjusted for piloting and gunnery for each side. Faithless is assembling the Turkeys (sorry, bad habit) Falcons and the valiant, hard-working and down-right likable IS force will be assembled by myself. If you want to bring your own units to this, you are more than welcome to, just make sure you know the BV cost of each and we'll be more than happy to adjust forces to accommodate you. Try to keep it to 3058 and earlier designs, no Tech Level 3.

Sneak peak of the city.

One of us! One of us! One of us!
-
I will bring my own foil hat.
-
SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY! Join us at Carolina Comics for an epic clash of titans! Watch in awe as the assembled forces of the Word of Blake's 44th Shadow Division face off with the archaic Kuritan defenders in a no-holds-barred slugfest! No mercy will be asked, none will be given! This will be a fight you'll tell your children about! Be there!

Yesterday's game was pretty fun. That was my first time with WoB equipment. Plus I got to mess more with battlearmor.
-
Word of Blake was triumphant! Huzzah!
Our next match will be September the 21st, at Carolina Comics. Bring your own units, 2 max with a combined adjusted BV 2.0 of 6,000 or less.

Here are a few pics from the game.

I am going to try and put together terrain like the coliseum from mw4 mercs. Maybe not the full border but try to recreate some of the feel of the columns etc.
-
Thanks for the photos. I wasn't able to take any during the game. Any idea if you'll have the terrain ready by next game? No rush if not, just curious.
-
I think I will. I need to load up mercs again after my hd crash and cruise around in the arena and take notes.
-
What took the back explosion?
-
I don't remember the name of the mech. I think it may have had their c3 master in it.
-
It was a Tai-Sho.
-
The one that reached enlightenment via many lrms.
-
Was that the one my carriers lit up?
-
We had 2 new players today. Thanks for coming Amy and William.
The next Sunday game will be Oct 12, 2014. With the usual 1pm start time. Kenny will chime in with mission specifics. We will post some pics from this weekend too.

Totally cribbed this from a different forum, but the scenario was too funny to pass up on running... Thanks to the anonymous author.
Setting: A Lyran planet, early in the Jihad.
A small WoB task force has entered the system from a pirate point and is burning hard towards the planet. The defending mech battalion is scrambling to hold the capital, but there's a problem. It's Saturday, and that means Hauptmann-Kommandant Störmer is having his weekly round of golf. Worse, ROM knows this, and has provided the incoming task force with his location. The Kommandant is out of contact as a WoB dropship breaks off to hot drop a Level II of troops onto the golf course, with the intent of capturing the Kommandant alive. The golf course was not considered a strategic objective, and is not covered by the local AA defenses. Two lances of mechs have been hastily dispatched to rescue the Kommandant and drive off the blakists.
The game ends either when the Kommandant is escorted off the map, two turns after he is killed, or when one side is utterly destroyed. Whoever manages to escort the Kommandant's golf cart off the map will be earn 4 VP. Each attacking mech is worth 3 VP, while each defending mech is worth 2. If the Kommandant is killed in the fighting, the attackers earn 1 VP (he's worth much more as a source of intel planet's defenses). The side with the most VP at the end of the game wins.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We'll be doing 11,000 BV2.0 adjusted for piloting/gunnery per side. If you have any requests or questions, contact either Faithless or myself. As always, all materials will be provided. Show up, bring some friends and have fun defending or kidnapping a Social General in a golf cart.
-
We can us a d.a. hoverbike for the golf cart. :) Also, I guess we need to hash out the details about where the kommadant starts on the map and how much he moves.
-
This game is approaching quickly. If anyone else would like to join in please let one of us know.
-
Game day is quickly approaching.
-
Word of Blake got mauled by the victorious Kell Hounds. They took us apart piece by piece.
-
So, Ideas for future games? If any of the players that have dropped with us this year are lurking and have some ideas, feel free to share them.
-
I need to get a time set in stone, but I am leaning towards early January for our next game. Been taking a break due to Holidays, with family and travel etc. I'm open to just about anything though, let's get some ideas going!
-
Shop said Sunday January 11th will be the next game and it will be the start of a yet to be determined campaign. It will be the normal 1pm start time.
-
Sunday Jan. 11th we will begin running a campaign out of Wolf and Blake. Anyone is welcome to join, we've got spots open on the filthy merc and blessed Blake sides to suit all types.
-
We mostly need opfor players. We already have 3 on the dragoons side. Shop can help you get adjusted to your foil hat.
-
The OpFor will consist of a Level II of Omegas with full WarShip support, and a Level III of the Arrow-IV UrbanMechs with Davy Crockett munitions.
-
Vs everyone else
-
Memories. I got into Btech and painted loads of miniatures when at FA OBC at Ft. Sill Fall 1991-Spring 1992.
-
I got into it in the early 90s at Game Shack right outside of post. I went to Articon at the old Caisson Rec Center.
Sunday, the Black Widows continue on their quest exact payback upon the WoB.
-
I'm in Tulsa; so, I'm lurking just in case I might make it there sometime for a game.
-
There is a group gaming on Tuesday nights in Owasso.

I have a group I haven't gamed with in a while, but they have told me they want to get together. Oddly enough, we'll probably play at someone's house just north of Collinsville.
-
Thanks to Shop and Carolina's for hosting the game yesterday and being opfor. Soon, the Widows will be facing the OV.
-

I have to cancel a campaign game for Jan 30th. I am looking to see when I can reschedule.
