Title: Looking for Battletech GMs and/or Contract makers for Mercenary roleplaying
Post by: Escudero on 30 June 2022, 07:59:14
Hi guys,

If anyone is interested in this kind of thing, my RPing community for Btech is looking for some people who would enjoy making interesting Mercenary contracts the mercenary units can apply for.

Also, we've had good experiences so far with GMs and would be interested in a couple more.  Could be both, meaning you make a contract and then GM for whoever takes that contract.

Era is currently 3051-52, just as the Clan invasion ends and Tukayyid is included.

Please reply or DM if interested/for details.

Here is one person who made an online merc contract generator:

Some other ideas:

One fun stunt for Garrison contracts is to bring along extra personnel to provide extra services.  Hire a few doctors to help train the local medical personnel.  Hire some extra technicians to train the local technical staff.  Bring along a database (https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Helm_Memory_Core) to help the planet uplift.  Bring along extra civilian gear to help wherever possible (i.e. bring along 5 tons of advanced CPUs massing ~100 grams each, so they can be installed in locally manufactured perscomps massing 3 kg each).

If defending a factory, try to see what the factory produces and if it would be a good idea to buy the stuff direct from the factory.

That's a cool system, thank you.  I was aware of an Excel-based one and this is similar, and very useful for some aspects.

To be more specific, our system calls for a little bit more to be generated.  IE, determining star system(s)/location, providing an employer situation and objectives, and some other minor details.  I'll provide a template shortly to give more scope.

Then, optionally the contract-maker could GM (GameMaster) the ensuing campaign for the mercenary unit that accepts the contract.

You should check out the Hot Spots Chaos March books. They provide plenty of hooks and a template for the GM

A bit too late of an era for me, sorry!  Otherwise, this would be something that would definitely suck me in...  :-\

EDIT: And +1 for AlphaMirage's recommendation!
