I seen this on YouTube and since we have these guns in the game I had to share this about the gyrojet in action on camera which is cool to see them do it.

Fortunately battletech gyrojets only very rarely fire their own barrels downrange.
(Also kinda neat that Brandon learned from Demolition Ranch's experience and wore gloves)

The barrel was held in with a tab of metal, some glue, and a dream.

Not much of a gun nut, but that was very fun to watch. I only had read about the quality issues associated with the historical gyrojets. Looks like those were not exaggerated...

I don't think so. Gyro Jet essentially fires a rocket propelled bullet. Where mechs don't need them since their big enough as you said fire normal missiles. Standard weapon's used by mechs outshine them. As mech weapon goes, it could beat the AC/20 with penetrating power, but I think cost of it gets too high. Especially you have AP rounds for standard ACs.
Would real world weapon need gyrojet? They do exist, but bullets are stupidly expensive. 200 bucks at a pop for a single gyroscopically stabilizing its projectiles with tiny rockets is crazy to me. Part of the reason gyrojet ammo is so expensive is because the technology never matured- it would probably still be expensive, especially compared to a standard bullet, but the cost would have come down if it had started seeing mass production.
Also, there probably isn't much point in making a gyrojet weapon for a mech simply because mechs are so big that they don't have near the issues with recoil that humans do- all that mass results in less recoil.
