Clan General Water Combat Units
« on: 31 March 2019, 21:50:34 »
This was inspired by a topic in the general discussion board (https://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=64913.0).  Other than hovercraft, I don't think there have actually been any published Clan water units.  I'm thinking that they probably use units from the SLDF days, like the Manta and the Mauna Kea.  With Clan Goliath Scorpion's underwater installations, I imagined that they created IIC versions of those SLDF units as better technology became available.  Common to these units is additional torpedo launchers and targeting computers since the Scorpions emphasize accuracy.

Here's the Manta IIC:

Code: [Select]

And here's the Mauna Kea IIC.  Note that this upgrade actually turns the littoral combat ship into a submarine, and replaces the autocannon with an ER large laser with a targeting computer:

LRM 15 Ammo (16)        Body        2.0
LRT 15 Ammo (32)        Body        4.0

Eventually these units would probably make their way throughout the Clans much like how the Undine battle armor did.

I was just reading about how Clan Diamond Shark acquired the Undine battle armor design through a series of submarine battles.  I imagined that they created a Neptune IIC based on the Neptune submarines that have been reported by the invading Clans.

What no Moray?

There is a Baleena IIC, which may have been the mysterious submarine forces in that Trial for the Undine.

I haven't considered statting a Clan version of the Moray yet.  The first two vessels I have set before Operation Revival, while the Neptune IIC is set after Revival since the Clans wouldn't have had much, if any, knowledge of that design.
