Mechwarrior Online Minis?
« on: 06 March 2014, 15:13:42 »
Not to sure if anyone has broached this topic before or not, but have you guys at IWM thought about doing a run of minis based on the designs from Mechwarrior Online?

Or are there far to many legal hurdles in the way and I am just wishful thinking?

1) IWM is a separate company from CGL - these are the CGL forums. SOrry, we can't answer on behalf of IWM.

2) Unfortunately IWM would need to negotiate for rights to reproduce the minis with Microsoft, who hold the rights for all Battletech computer products, and for any derivatives from those products (eg. computer games, and minis derived from those games respectively).

Maybe things will change when the PGI fail is complete and MWO is Mech Warrior Offline...most likely before end of this year.

Mechwarrior 4 is a decade in the rear view mirror at this point, but designs from it like their take on the Hellhound, Dragon, etc. are still not able to be sculpted. I'd assume that no matter the results of MWO's upcoming few months, they'd be no different in terms of the IP.

As a side issue, PGI have MWO forums, where such opinions may be more relevant than here.

Incorrect.  My statement was perfectly relevant to the question posed in this post.

Yours, however, is less so and ironic.

The topic of this thread is not what can be discussed here or on Mechwarrior Online's forums, but the reason why CGL seemingly can't have minis of the MWO mechs produced. Please gentlemen keep to it.
