MWO Vindicator
« on: 29 May 2014, 17:10:04 »
Bet you thought it was released huh?

Now to the point of this post:

What do you think the variants will be?

VND-1R obviously.

I'm guessing the VND-1X the first version with the MG instead of SL in the left arm...for the ballistic slot(s).

Probably the 3050 "upgrade" VND-3L as well.

I think the VND-1AA would be an interesting choice.

What about a "Hero" variant?  The "St Ive's Blues" perhaps?

1R is obvious

1AA is questionable since it is so similar to the 1R but maybe it will differentiate itself by having a higher max engine rating

1X seems likely and would be nice for the ballistic hardpoint

3L seems pretty likely if 3051 isn't "too late" of an intro-date.

The 1SIC is possible, but runs into the same problem of the 1AA, it is too similar to the 1R (edit: though I could see them potentially removing extraneous laser hardpoints for more missiles or something)

As for the hero, who knows. They aren't being very clear in their references, if they're even trying anymore, but I suppose the original St Ives Blues 'Mech is possible or Vong's (though both would be drastically different from their real 'Mechs, since any hero is going to be heavily customized).

Thought I might actually have a reason to get back into it. ;D

I'd want one of each.

NNNNNNNNNRRRGH! Don't do that mate!

1R and 3Ls are given, likewise given we are talking MWO 1X seems more likely than 1AA because it opens up ballistic on the chassis while any 1SIC would have higher volume of missile hardpoints.

Given Heroes tending to be more different than better, wondering actually if the 1AA will be Hero rather than the Vong. Higher engine cap, more jump jet options and maybe give it a SRM rather than LRM out the gate would different fit the current Hero direction.

Heh.

Is it wrong that I had a semi-evil chuckle?   O:-)

IMO, Vong's or the St Ive's Blues would make sense for a hero, especially the latter due to the unique paint scheme.

So what about slots?

VND-1R, 3E, 1M?
VND-1X, 2E, 1M, 1B?
VND-1AA, 3E, 1M? (Higher Engine Cap, 5 or more Jump Jets)
VND-1SIC, 3E, 1M? (20-Tube Count?)
VND-3L, 2E, 2M?

VND-3L, 2E, 2M?

They rarely keep hardpoints to just what the design holds (except with Clan Omnis).

On that note, I'd expect:
1R: 4E, 1-2M
1X: 2E, 1-2M, 1-2B
1AA: 3E, 1-2M, higher max engine rating / more possible JJ
1SIC: 3E, 2-3M (2 if the other designs only have 1M, 3 if they have 2M)
3L: 2E, 2M sounds about right, the advanced tech designs sometimes seem to have worse hardpoints to make up for the fact that they come with a few tech upgrades

No official art yet, but Alex Iglesias has drawn his take on it in the past which might give a vague guideline of what to expect:

I sure hope PGI finds the moxie to make an exceptional hero for the Vindicator.
I might not be a CCAF guy, but the Vindi has always held a special place among the true classics...

PGI are just taking their time getting back to the usual process of release when their not doing big packs like Project Phoenix and the Clan Collection, a new chassis every month or so following the Hero 1st week - Normal Variants for MC 2dn week - Normal Variants for C-Bills 3rd/4th week patten.

Vindy concept looks great. Even as a Davionista  smoke jag, I'll buy them for cbills and master them out.

I like it. Though I want to see what it looks like once it actually makes it into game; some of their models fall a bit short of the excellent concept art.

Oooooh, very nice. And great to see actual concept art out before the 'Mech. Just realised its been five months between drinks for IS players too, so lots of interest in the Vindi.

That's not Davion Sunburst.

It's the insignia of the 5th McCarron's Armored Cavalry (Capellan Confederation).

The Hero is out and its the St. Ives Blue! Of course with chassis in game Smurfy datamining can reveal the other variants and their hardpoints as well:

of the four, i kinda feel the avenging angel vindy would be better suited as the hero 'mech, but whatever.

AMS is rapidly becoming a stock item, i'm thinking. i don't like it since it's a band-aid on the bigger problem of maps rewarding bad plays, but i've given up on this game being properly managed for some time.
