The Locust LCT-5D was introduced by Schwarze-Ritter Metalwerks as an improved upgrade of the Federated Suns long range version of the Locust built in 2571. By utilizing ferro-fibrous armor, an endo-steel chassis, and a light fusion engine overall armor protection was increased to three and a half tons. Additionally the 5D variant retains the two Magna Longbow-5 launchers and one ton of ammunition mounted in place of the original machine guns and upgrades the original medium laser to an extended-range model.
