Clan Mech Matchups

Hello Everybody,

I Mostly stick to Succession Wars era play (as does our gaming group), but a friend of mine is really interested in some Clan Action. We are looking at running a simple series of pick up style games set around Revival (or early clan invasion era).

These games will be short and will likely consist of simple duels or 2v2 matchups consisting only of mechs. At least at first... haha The idea is to be able to run through several in a game night rather than just one long game. Clan Trials if you will....

So with this said I am looking for some input on some solid Omnimech / variant matchups. Sort of like a "fight night". I am not looking for a mech to trash the opponent, rather a pair of mechs or (two pairs) of mechs that will give each other a really good and balanced fight.

What are some clan vs clan mech matchups that stick out to you? Are there any memorable clan mech duels that you'd like to replay yourself or suggest for other players?

Not looking for answers based strictly off of tonnage or BV, but I am not opposed to it either. Let's just get some good solid matchups!

I was thinking of a Night Gyr Prime vs a Nova Cat Prime for example.

If there is interest here I could also write up some brief takeaways and AAR's about the outcome of these matches.

Do you want chassis or loadouts?

For the volume of play I'd actually try Chassis with different loadouts and maybe mix in some Elementals to see how the games differ.

If they don't both have to be Omnis, you could always do a Blood Asp A or B versus a Blood Kite 2, the quintessential Star Adder versus Blood Spirit grudge match.

I did this, took 3 different standard Clan mechs against Jade Falcons in Trials to be insulting . . . I THINK it was a Orion IIC vs a Night Gyr, a Guillotine IIC? vs a . . . Summoner? and the one I remember quite well because it was done in 3 shots w/o a single hit against me, a Pack Hunter vs the Gauss Rifle armed Cougar.

If you balance the pilots you can get some interesting ones, like a Summoner vs a Thunderbolt IIC.
