VoidBreaker Previews
« on: 10 January 2025, 22:09:01 »
I wrote a post about some background reading that might interest you for VoidBreaker (READ IT HERE https://www.catalystgamelabs.com/news/suiting-up-for-voidbreaker) and Bleeding Cool News posted an exclusive look at the first three chapters of the book (READ THOSE HERE https://bleedingcool.com/pop-culture/exclusive-read-the-first-three-chapters-of-battletech-voidbreaker/).

I hope you all enjoy it...  Only two weeks left until it comes out...

I took a look at the first link, but I'm holding off on reading any part of the book itself until the whole thing is made available.

That said, I do wonder if there might be any indication in this book as to whether or not the Sea Foxes know about Clan Goliath Scorpion's HPGs being unaffected by the Blackout; whether or not the story continues to the point where the Scorpions have begun to install a new HPG station at their enclave in the Chaine Cluster; or, indeed, whether or not such knowledge impacts the Sea Foxes' own efforts to restore those stations affected by Clarion Note, one way or the other.

This is definitely addressed in the book, one way or the other.

Sounds promising. I look forward to reading all about it, then!

On a side note: have you considered writing any Scorpion Empire-themed fiction at some point?

It does not.

Tamar Rising kinda ties in strongly, though.
"We have made of New Avalon a towering funeral pyre and wiped the Davion scourge from the universe.  Tikonov, Chesterton and Andurien are ours once more, and the cheers of the Capellan people nearly drown out the gnashing of our foes' teeth as they throw down their weapons in despair.  Now I am made First Lord of the Star League, and all shall bow down to me and pay homa...oooooo! Shiny thing!" - Maximillian Liao, "My Triumph", audio dictation, 3030.  Unpublished.

Will there be any hints of who activated the blackout?

You'll definitely need to read the book.

All signs point to a Canopian Catboy:

Do the Sea Foxes not care about using contractions anymore?

Do the Sea Foxes not care about using contractions anymore?

It depends.  Warrior to warrior in a formal setting, still using formal speech.  Most others, especially those who regularly interact with Spheroids, use contractions.
Sea Foxes working undercover in the Inner Sphere trying not to blow their cover certainly don't care.
