I just assume that writers can conjure up factories by fiat if they wish. Of course, this hypothetical C doesn't have to be a Horse product, though they'd be the most natural source by inclination.

Nope, nope, nope... Once upon a time, in the Wild West of the early days of BattleTech, maybe.

These days there is actually a factory list, by Era, that is used for this work. If a factory is needed, it goes to the Line Developer or ALD for review.

Going back over the discussion to avoid repeat anything, all most everything has been covered. It's a solid design but now has some solid competition for mid range tanks. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Manticore.

Eww, the # of heatsinks on that thing is a turn off for me.

But iATMs & a LPL seems like an interesting concept.

A single 12 rack fits w/ plenty of ammo & extra armor.
Or for more missiles & to fill the hole in the front a 6 pack of ATM3's in the turret with a 7th in the front would work & keep the armor at traditional levels.
