==Overview:==
Tactical doctrine in the MAF dictates that conventional armor will be
used to soften up enemy forces before their BattleMech forces move in. To
this end, a design was sought that would get them the most "bang for the
buck," literally.
==Capabilities:==
As a defensive unit, high ground speed was nowhere on the list of desired
traits. A Holly LRM-15 rack and Pontiac 50 autocannon comprise its entire
anti-'Mech and -vehicular armament. Two Bulldog miniguns are mounted
coaxially with the Pontiac, and two more are mounted to fire in the rear arc,
for any infantry that threaten the tank.
The Exael boasts 9 tons of StarSlab armor to protect it and its crew
against hostile fire.
