Will the BattleDroid Demolisher fit well on the IWM 42mm flat-top hex base?

It will fit, but not well. Half of the tread on both ends will hang over.

Well, I don't use bases for tanks. But if you had to, I would say to go to a craft store, like Michael's, and look for either a 3" round wooden plate (you've seen me use those for Quads), or like a 2" x 4" rectangle.

Gotta back this suggestion- I don't base my tanks, but if I did, there's no way this thing is going to work anyway.
Then again, with the size, I like to use mine as mobile naval battery using support vehicle rules, so it takes up multiple hexes anyway ;)

There are a number of reasons I've decided to base my vehicles:
1. It protects the paint job.
2. Gives me the option to pick up the miniature in a way that avoids touching it directly.
3. Improves the presentation of the miniature.
So I'll stick with it. I went to Michael's and got a flat, 3"x2" piece of wood. It works well for what I need. Besides, the mini itself wouldn't fit in a hex anyway. I'll have to get photos of it up along with the rest of my generic vehicle unit.
Now all I need to to buy a piece of wood or cut one from suitable scrap for a 4"x1" base for my Long Tom.
