in fact I agree, that you should be able to hide those things from a casual search, but an active search would likely show/reveal them depending on how "invasive" it is.

Can we define "casual search" as lifting a skirt to peek at things you shouldn't see?

You might discover that the 'cute girl' you've been harrassing is actually male.  Or carrying a variety of concealed weaponry.  Have you wondered how they can hide all that stuff?

To avoid getting mobbed by their fans on the street, most of our catgirls wear trenchcoats and floppy hats when out in public.

I was thinking of "casual search" as being along the lines of visual search (without removing clothing) walking through metal detectors, and basic pat down (which may or may not detect anything depending on how through it is)  anything more "invasive" is most likely to detect something odd or "out of place"
