Inspired by the Alpha Star thread in 'Non-Canon Units sub-forum.
Based on the militay medium-sized BH-222 utility transport helicopter, the Airwolf is a heavily modified militarized upgrade featuring such expensive equipment as an Extra-Light Fusion engine salvaged from a battle damaged Malak OmniMech, Heavy Ferro-fibrous and a targeting computer. The upgrade was designed and implemented by ace engineer Dominic Santini of Santini Aerospace. Aside from the technical upgrades the two-bladed rotor has been replaced with a four-bladed one and all of the communication and flight systems have been switched out for modern milspec versions.
After nearly two years of work, the Airwolf was finally completed and evaluated by former Rim Commonality forces pilot Stringfellow Hawke and former Temetagi Federal Police officer Caitlin O'Shaughnessy. The Airwolf got its first taste of combat when a Regulan raiding force struck at the nearby Nimakachi factory complex. In conjuction with the Commonality Guards forces, the Airwolf engaged the Regulans and took out several armored vehicles and assited in taking out two Shockwave battlemechs. The Regulan raiding force never penetrated the Nimakachi factory's perimeter and fled after suffering medium to heavy losses.
The heroic exploits of Hawke and O'Shaughnessy came to the attention of Michael Coldsmith-Briggs (aka Archangel), director of Commonality's ultra-secret intelligence agency known as the Firm. Archangel threatened to seize the Airwolf if Santini did not willingly aid the Firm in missions against the Regulans, Marians and periphery-based pirates. For more than four years the Airwolf engaged he enemies of the Commonality until it was presumed destroyed when it did not return from a Firm raid on the Marian Hegemony world of Paulinus. According to Firm reports, there have been no reports of the Airwolf being observed in Hegemony space or anywhere else in the Commonality or the periphery.
