Rules Questions (2nd printing of rulebook)?
« on: 10 May 2016, 16:52:30 »
Is there an FAQ to the rulebook?  I just downloaded the PDF (second edition).

Here's some issues I'm having that I would appreciate some help on...

1. Autocannon.  Can someone please describe more about this event?  "whether it is made using only the AC special ability, or as part of the unit’s standard weapon attack..."  Using the Centurion as a good example.  If I fire the AC separately it has a 1/1/0 attack value, but the rest is unclear.  Can I still fire "the rest" of the weapons as a separate attack, subtracting AC1/1/0 from the basic 2/3/1 statline and firing "the rest" at 1/2/1?  Or by firing the Autocannon separately I do not get to attack with the other weapons?

2. p.43 it seems to list "Damage to Attacker: If the DFA attack succeeds..." twice.  Is this a typo compared to p.19?

3. What does it mean when a 0* or IF0* is included in a unit card (example: Griffin).  I can find no reference to this in the rules.

Hello.  Let's see if I can answer these.
1. No you can't make a special weapon attack and a standard weapons attack (reduced or not).  It's one or the other.
2.  On my phone, so I cmt figure out what you mean here. Maybe later.
3. Minimal damage.  You have to roll another die to see if you do 1 or no damage.

Thanks.  Clarity on issue #2.

p.43 Shouldn't the purple arrow say "Charge" (attached)?

Yes.  Thought we had posted errata on that, but maybe it got misplaced.

The charge issue is addressed in the current errata.

Errata can be downloaded in the book's errata thread, if there's a document available to download (not all books have errata, but Alpha Strike does).  For Alpha Strike, you can also get the document from the Errata section of the main website.

No problem.  Just to let you know, there will be a new errata document released on 6 June, so you'll need to get this again in a month.

Quick hijack, does that June date include Total Warfare and other books or just Alpha Strike? And will the Companion get an errata soon?

It includes TW, TM, TO, SO, and yes, also the Companion.  The StratOps one will be pretty middling, but I figured something was better than nothing.

I wish the cover of the 2nd printing had been labelled as Version 1.1 or something so it would be easy to tell which one was which.  I have a copy of the rules on order, and I really hope it's the 2nd printing!

I think I'ld rather buy a second copy than take a pencil and add 37 pages of errata to the first!

I would guess that even if the cover said something, store probably would still use the same image on their website. Unfortunately.

So will Catalyst print an errata'd version of the rules?  I have the latest version of the PDF, but I'm one of those old fashioned guys who likes to have a physical copy of the book.
The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry.

Whenever the current printing runs out, a new printing will be made incorporating errata. No idea when that would be.
