Reseen Thunderbolt question
« on: 25 May 2011, 23:57:37 »
Hey guys.

Did anyone pin the legs on the Thunderbolt? Those knee joints kinda look a little weak?!!?

So NOBODY has tried to pin them? Maybe if I just build up a mound of dirt or something under the other lifted leg (and pin the foot to the mound of dirt) will will add a little more support to the mini? This has to be a tabletop version.

I'm in the process of prepping mine for assembly (delayed a bit because mine was missing the HEAD for some reason and I have try and make one) and I see no reason why it can't be pinned easily if you want to. There's certainly no harm in pinning it.

Also, you might want to try and find that rubberized CA adhesive. It's usually sold at hobby stores and it's black (more like really dark brown) in color. It fills gaps but it's also semi-flexible so it's more shock resistant than most CA which dries kind of brittle. I use it whenever I have something on a mini that I want to be certain will be durable.

Yeah I looked at mine last night and was thinking "to pin or not to pin" but I was exhausted from coding (trying) a website I didn't have the patience lol

I might try and pin it tonight.

Mine came with two heads? Need to see what the TDR-5SS uses.

I pinned both the knees and ankles on mine, but I pin the major structural joints in just about every mini by default.

Its a nightmare waiting to fall apart.  I would Highly Recommend Pinning everything on the Thunderbolt Reseen.

I actually pinned the legs and torso and then pinned the lifted/elevated leg into the sculpy. I didn't worry so much about the arms as they have some pretty good sockets to go in to but I did drill the sockets a little bit deeper for extra support.

The leg doesn't need to be elevated.  Just experiment with the pose and it is rock-solid.  http://brianscache.com/builds/TDR-9M.html

I LOVE the Thud, that said I will be passing on this mini. I'll wait for either the new 2C or the fan-funded (but as yet, not seen)  Primitive Thunderbolt from one of the upcoming XTROs.

When I was making a Temax Ninja etc. for a friend I pined everything on the leg.  Huge pain in the butt, until I dropped it once, now I am happy for the time spent.
