Well, there's a thing.
« on: 15 May 2020, 17:05:46 »
I'm rolling up a new company using the current beta release using the random RAT tools.

1st lance was rolled on the Comstar RAT

P-Hawk LAM Mk I HK1
P-Hawk LAM HK2
P-Hawk LAM Mk I HK1

Another Lance on the Merc RAT
Stinger LAM Mk I STG-A1

So, out of twelve 'mechs, I have four LAMS in 3052!

I'ts fine. I will change them for normal versions.

The CO and XO are  former Comguard who left after Tukayyid.  Im resurrecting a MW campaign from nearly 30 years ago for myself.  How 4 LAMs survived Devil's Bath against the Vipers I don't know.

If I remember correctly these two are some only survivors of  the 78th Divison.

It's way cooler if you don't change them... those four LAMs can wreak ALL KINDS of havoc in an enemy's rear areas...  Just don't try to use them in a stand up fight...

The thing LAMs bring like nothing else is operational mobility.  The ability to move a lance of 'mechs around at aerospace speeds without a dropship is amazing.  As others will point out, for actual fighting, you want to be in 'mech mode (or AirMech mode if you're transiting at something less than ASF speed).  Duking it out 1 to 1 with actual 'mechs or ASFs will land you in a heap of trouble in short order.  LAMs are for smashing support forces and depots flat, then heading for the hills before the dangerous units can respond.

If you play AtB I would suggest keeping them.

Just some off the top house rules:
They can serve as reinforcements anytime, at will. Normal time to get there as reinforcements. This will mean some missions you win within a few rounds by having them there.

One stray shot though...   ...god those parts are going to be impossible to find.

One stray shot is right. IC can you imagine trying to write a job posting for a LAM.  Wanted experienced mech pilot that can also fly an aerspace fighter. A mech that turns into an aerospace fighter, is it April 1st.
