Camouflage question
« on: 24 July 2020, 16:22:43 »
I'm currently building the entire 13th Wolf Guards cluster during the clan invasion. I have a question about what camo they would have: The traditional Alpha galaxy colors, black with red trim, or just a basic Wolf gray color. I checked Sarna and Camospecs and it seems to suggest black and red, but I'm wondering if that was only Kerensky's escort star. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Assuming you're going for something after Natasha and others returned to the Clan, I'd lean towards the black and red. Unless there is a canon source to contradict that, I think NK's cult of personality would gain traction pretty quickly within the cluster. The scheme went with her and her Black Widows, so it would be reasonable to go that route. Prior to her return, Alpha, basic grey, or any appropriate camo would be acceptable canon options.

I don't have Invading Clans handy to check, and in most cases the FMs didn't go below Galaxy/Regiment for distinctions to schemes, making the 13th an exception already. I wouldn't worry about it applying only to the command star. Again, unless there's a source that specifically says that, you can assume a uniform scheme across the cluster.

Page 159 of Field Manual Warden Clans
"Beta Galaxy uses primarily white and gray paint, with the exception of the Wolf Spiders, who have kept their unit's original black-and-red paint scheme"

Leads me to believe that they used a Black And Red scheme when formed.  Also the Wolf Clan Source book lists all of the trinary unit insignias as having some for of red hourglass.

So I am kinda confused here, are we talking about OG Clan Wolf before Tukayyid, Clan Wolf-in-Exile or Vlad Ward's reformatted Clan Wolf Alpha Galaxy? Or is it Beta Galaxy?

I couldn't find anything for OG Clan Wolf Alpha Galaxy color scheme, I thought what I found on CamoSpecs website was for OG Wolf, but the Field Manual: Crusader Clans is mentioned as source, which has Vlad Ward's Clan Wolf in it.

I thought of using Alpha Galaxy for my Clan Invasion mechs, because of the green color scheme, so I can have them opfor as Jade Falcon Delta Galaxy. Two birds with one stone and all that jive.

Camo depends upon the expected terrain. Clan warfare principles tended to be open battles to minimize collateral damage. So the mechwarrior/clan ego and attitude prevailed in paint schemes. Stand out to be noticed.

What I listed was from Field Manual WARDEN clans, which is the Wolves-in-Exile.  WHich it states they use their ORIGINAL scheme of black and red which means that they have always used black and red scheme.
