The next game will be on
May 27th.  10:45am to 6:00pm.
Games Plus in Mt. Prospect Illinois.

"What Mech Is That?"
This game is a free for all fight with both individual and team objectives and goals.
You are allowed to bring your own mech, or use one provided.
Restrictions are this:
The goal of the game is to play the mechs that do not see the table very often.   (No Warhammers, Madcats, Atlas, or any omni etc...)  If it has come out in plastic, then it is not allowed.  (exceptions being the Samurai and the Hoplite)
The weirder, the better.  Bring those Solaris 7 mechs, or the clan 2nd liners that nobody likes.
It must have a published record sheet.
Mixed tech and experimentals are allowed, they just have to be on rare chassis.
Bring your dice and a writing utensil as well.
If you have a question about whether a mech will be allowed, send me a message.  Hope to see you there!

Is there a Samurai BattleMech out there?  I only know of a Samurai AeroSpace fighter...

Edit: exceptions are actually the Shogun and the Hoplite, see Lionheart's response below

It might be RATHER EXTREMELY HELPFUL to provide a list of which BattleMechs have been released in plastic before.  https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Miniatures_-_Catalyst_Game_Labs

Just to prep the answer since I don't have a dog in this fight. Are the 4th Ed starter box mechs banned, specifically things like the Whitworth or Quickdraw? I think they meet the intent but that set is plastic.

(Oh, yeah, see above.)
<-- first 'mech I drove as a Robotech destroid pilot way back when

No, they are too recognizable.

Just to rule out another example: Are things like the Mad Cat Mk IV allowed?  They share a name with a 'Mech that has a plastic mini, but don't exactly have one themselves

The Mk III and IV are fine.  I would say the Mk II is a bit too common.

Oooh, I've got some good obscure ones...

This sounds like fun. I'm eyeing the lesser known TRO 3055 'Mechs. I assume the Stealth, Daikyu, or Bandersnatch would all qualify.

The Hornet is in TRO: 3050 and has an XTO variant as well, while the Cestus and Firebee are in TROs 3058 and 3075 respectively.  I'd argue all three would be good.

They would indeed.  I am bringing some of those.

NONE of the 3 look any think like the official mechs.   Hornet is a  Humanoid mech  not a walking basketball .  As is the Cetus. Firebee is not a skeleton either

Are there going to be any restrictions on equipment allowed, i.e. TSEMPs and Manei Domini stuff?  There's a few designs from some sources that are kind of intentionally not straightforward to play...

Let's also get this out of the way while we're at it...

Are LAMs allowed?  Even the Word of Blake Spectral LAMs?

I honestly feel like a bring-your-own-sheet game like this needs a more comprehensive set of rules other than the scenario specific obscurity requirement.

I was only arguing in favor of the official mechs, to be clear.

LAMs are not allowed.  The Manei Domini are allowed, but they will have BV problems.
We are balancing to 2100 BV.

Thanks to all who attended the Great American Mace.  That was a lot of fun and just as silly as I intended.
