Thug IIC (KISS principle at work)
« on: 04 May 2024, 10:50:40 »
No fuss, no muss, point & shoot.

Upgraded the SRMs to ATMs, and added a few things to make life easier for a pilot in providing a few new options that doesn't ruin the simplicity of the loadout.

Has enough heat sinks to fire both PPCs+MPL at a run and not care. Or, drop one PPC, fire the ATMs+MPL, and use the L-AMS at two missile salvos while at a run and barely need to care about heat. CASE II + armored shoulders to avoid golden BB hits that might cost an arm on the first turn, or a lucky hit to an ammo bin.

It's interesting, and has good range increases from the OG, but I'm not sure I'd call it KISS at all.

The Swap to XL, the addition of other items (MPL/LAMS/TC/ECM) & boatloads of extra ammo....

Despite the CASE-II & armored shoulders the added XL slots means the durability is a wash.

I feel like KISS would have been, even swaps for ERPPCs/Streaks/CASE-II........and then your choice of ECM for the last ton or dropping 2 DHS for the TC

Finally, Multiple Salvos w/ a single LAMS?   Is that a thing outside of AeroTech?

I like the addition of the LAMS, but the Thug is based on simplicity. It's not a Clan 'mech with all the overwhelming power that comes with it, but it's a tough upgrade that uses Clantech effectively.

Finally, Multiple Salvos w/ a single LAMS?   Is that a thing outside of AeroTech?
Let us just say I had the recent misfortune of playing against someone using Two Archers, a Raptor (Prime), an Owens, a Striker, and a Turhan. Once that NARC hit, it wasn't fun. So currently I'm on a bit of a madlad tunnel focus about adding L-AMS to just about everything.

Ouch, that had to hurt.

But is a LAMS able to fire multiple times?

Like I said, I thought that was just a rule in AT.
