Well, fwiw, Legends II now postulates that young Max Liao’s first wife was named Jasmine (in the he entry about Candace's Vindicator). So even if it was an error all those years, it has now been elevated tocanon status.(Sarna is not proud.)
Also FWIW, that blurb in Legends II got me to re-read the Warrior Trilogy and I feel much more sympathetic to Max Liao and the CapCon now. Max himself muses that perhaps open warfare will be a thing of the past and diplomacy will take the fore...moments before Hanse launches the invasion that would cut the Confederation in two. The Fourth Succession War can be understood as an act of naked aggression by a bully against a weaker nation. I never quite grokked that before.
It's also the worst wedding gift ever, the equivalent of Homer giving Marge that bowling ball.
So happy to see another person come to see the truth!

Anyone that has read The Sword & The Dagger could say it was an act of naked retribution by a righteous leader against a duplicitous foe.But hey, that's just 1 man's opinion :)
I don't recommend people read The Sword & The Dagger.
The same guy using intrigue against his two larger and more militarily powerful neighbors thought that war was about to be off the table? I play Capellan plenty and Max had it coming.
