Thor is an awesome movie, but do unlike me and leave your nitpickiness in the car. There were several niggling details they flopped on that vexed me. Still, even without real wings on his helmet, I approve of this incarnation of Thor, even if they made them aliens instead of being Gods and Giants.

I thought that Marvel had retconned the 'gods' as aliens some years back?  Earth X treats them that way.  Personally, I liked it.  Loki was the only one aware of it.  Ragnarok was his attempt(s) to get them to see the truth.

As for Thor, I have to wonder at the horrible casting choices.  I might go see it anyway, simply for the Destroyer, but every commercial makes me shake my head.

I'm not sure if I'll see Thor.

But that's just me.  Oh, well, almost time to call mom.

Got an email from my dad the other day asking me when I wanted to see Thor, so I guess I'm going to go at some point.

Ran a fun adventure tonight.  Fantasy game, party are all scions of the ruling families of their empire.  They have been traveling and adventuring together for about a month of campaign time.  Tonight, they learn that their sisters had gotten together at a resort town, only to have some of the crown jewels stolen by a thief.  Rather than get professional help, the girls emulate their brothers and try to get the jewels back on their own.
Which could have lead to a classic I Love Lucy-esque scenario on its own.  But the PCs manage to top this.  The party rogue gets a Facade of Normality spell from the wizard and sneaks into a spa where the girls are.  The spell causes anyone seeing the recipient to see whatever they expect to see - which allows him to sneak into a locker room and plant a note in his sister's clothes.  He then attempts to follow them out and back to their hotel.
But a random chance event (precipitated by the Masterbook Card system) indicates a Possible Setback.  He loses his towel on the street, and is following them naked except for the spell.  Then the rest of his party finds out and hilarity ensues.  Then he gets to the hotel.  Fancy place, so it has wards.  Some of the guests might want to have spells active going in or out so the wards shouldn't affect his spell.  Random chance says otherwise.  Worse this is the hotel he always stays at when he visits here.
So with the entire lobby pointing and gawking, he just marches up to the counter, and says "I'd like a room."  The table burst into laughter, and it was a good five minutes before recovery.  And the jokes kept coming all night long about the "prince's new clothes"

These are the nights it is great to be a gamer or GM.

Saw Thor yesterday and very much enjoyed it.  The 3D was additive, but if you see it in 2D (which you should be able to, I could have) you aren't going to be missing out too much (as opposed to Avatar, where the 3D made a big difference).  This was the single-character Marvel film I was most worried about out of the big 3 (Iron Man and Captain America being the others) due to the ease with which a story about Norse gods and fish-out-of-water scenarios can become absolutely dire, so I was very pleased to see it avoid those pitfalls.

I finally saw Battle for LA the other night and I was very pleased with it. A few things here and there didn't seem correct but that is just me nitpicking. Good action, relatively realistic, not over the top heroism. Just a good, down to earth war movie fighting unknown alien invaders.

So yesterday I went out with family for Mother's Day, and we ended up eating at this interesting Brazilian meat place. Waiters would wander the restaurant and bring the meat to you to sample. On swords.

Indeed, though the top sirloin didn't need any help, even from swords.

Texas de Brazil. I'm told it was very similar to Fogo de Chao.

There's one of those right by my work. I'm not a big steak guy, but I liked it when I went.

Used to go to one of those in Rockville, when we lived in the DC area.  Lisa was quite impressed, first place she'd been where they had valet parking and asked if we wanted to see the wine list.

Sorry to hear that, Ed. Dad got it a few years ago. Spent a couple of weeks in hospital up to his eyeballs on morphine. Hope your mom is luckier with it.

I/we nearly bought a sword on holiday in Edinburgh, they have a nifty selection which I think (didn't test!) are fairly sharp and made with decent carbon steel... my wife had her eye on a nice "military rapier" for £300

My wife offers her sympathies; she got it while I was in Iraq.  There has been many a diet change and days of discomfort since.  I hope she feels better soon.

I went to Fogo de Chao in downtown Minneapolis a couple years ago.  Pricy, but worth the cash.  It includes a massive salad bar.  The service for the meat is guys walking around with massive two bladed skewers and they cut off the amount of meat you want.

Here's a plate of mine:
