Field Report: Periphery.

Page 18

"The Castilian Principalities have faced internal issues, including the loss of the Third Brigada, though their overall numbers are mostly unchanged due to absorption of the survivors and salvage into Second and Third Brigadas. It is unknown if Third Brigada will be reconstituted or if it will disappear from the active rolls permanently."

Suggested fix: "though their overall numbers are mostly unchanged due to the absorption of the survivors and salvage into First and Second Brigadas".

Reasoning: Deployment Map has 1st, 2nd and 4th Brigadas.

FR: Periphery

Page 24 (Hanseatic League Map)

Map indicates that RDF 4 is stationed on Kalmar while text on page 18 has them on Riga.

Suggested Fix: Rotate indicate arrow clockwise to Riga to put map in continuity with text on page 18 (as well as previous BT sources)

FR: Periphery, pg 15:

Quote
...the defending forces on San Nicholas retaliated with nuclear weapons, nearly annihilating the Second Legion.

Issue:

It contradicts the following passage in JHS Terra pg 55:

Quote
San Nicolas [PFP] – Five thousand dead, ten thousand
wounded or contaminated, and ten times more homeless. Two
cities destroyed, and countless acres poisoned for millennia.
Kendall is free again—but at an immense cost. Not only does
the planet lie in ruins, but with it the granary of a whole sector
ceases to exist. It makes one wonder about the future fate of San
Nicolas.

While the sorce comes from San Nicholas and worries about the San Nicholas' fate, the Second Legion was destroyed on Kendall.

Suggested Fix:

Switch 'San Nicholas' to 'Kendall'

FR: Peripher, pg 15.

Quote
As the former command of Caesar Julius, the Third’s anti-Blakist fervor

Caesar Julius never was in Command of the 3rd, but of the 2nd Legion. The Third was close to him and helped in his coup, but the 2nd was his 'pet unit':

Source: Field Manual periphery, pg: 71:

Quote
<snip>- he transferred Julius to Lordinax to serve into the Second Marian Legion

Fix: Drop the part about Julius being in command of the 3rd.

Field Report: Periphery, pdf:

Page 5, quote sidebar, top quote:

Chainelane Isles is spelled incorrectly:
Quote
Captain Reginald Jonvelson of RDF1, during
disastrous retreat from Chainlaine Isles, 3076

Suggested fix:
Replace with:
Captain Reginald Jonvelson of RDF1, during disastrous retreat from Chainelane Isles, 3076

Page 13, Morale section, second sentence:

Incorrect. The overall military is called the Sentinels. The first regiment of the Sentinelry is the First Fronc Cuirassiers. Much like how the First Davion Guards are a regiment of the AFFS. Sentinels equates to AFFS, Cuirassiers equates to Guards.

All errata come from the first 'printing' .pdf of Field Report: Periphery, as downloaded 29/07/11.  All quotes taken directly from text, with the problem in bold text.  Problems and suggested fixes follow the quotes.

Primarily, President Carver Trondel and Force Commander Dirk McEvans believe that the Magistracy will be too distracted with its own rebuilding, and the Concordat too consumed by their war against the Federated Suns to pose any immediate threat to the Reaches.
(Missing comma; each example (Magistracy and Concordat) is its own break in the 'to' statement.)

Some intelligence suggests that new combat vehicles are being made domestically, if very slowly, at one of these adapted factories, while a fairly new upstart company, Coalition Armory Inc., has been supplying RetroTech ’Mechs as a supplement since 3076.
(Should be 'startup'?  'Upstart' implies an ambitious and somewhat-resented entity; 'startup' is the business term for a company that just opened its doors and is emotionally neutral.)

Unfortunately, the rate of volunteer recruitment has yet to match their manpower needs at present, so until the Reaches manage to train enough crews to operate and maintain these vehicular forces, these defenses will amount to little more than a paper tiger.

With disgust at the actions of the Taurian forces against their FedSuns enemies (for whom no love is lost with the Protectorate forces), a resolve to defend the Protectorate from forceful reintegration by the Concordat has solidified, reflected by increased loyalty to President Martens-Calderon and his fledgling government.

Suggested correction:

That the Caesar keeps his troops from consolidating any resentful feelings by prosecuting both active defense and invasion of new worlds to expand the realm (thus busying them with new populations to subjugate), the legion commanders have no time to incite rebellions from within the ranks.
(The whole sentence's structure is awkward and a little difficult to parse - leading with a qualifier like 'that' suggests the actual force of a statement is later in the sentence, but it never comes.)

Suggested correction:
The Caesar keeps his troops from consolidating any resentful feelings by prosecuting both active defense and invasion of new worlds to expand the realm, thus busying them with new populations to subjugate and leaving the legion commanders no time to incite rebellions from within the ranks.

Quote from: p.18, "Condition" section, second paragraph
The Umayyad Corps, though higher in recruiting numbers, lacks the materiel to equip all of its commands with ’Mechs, much less warriors trained well enough to use them effectively.  All three Corps have thus been engaged in raiding the Hanseatic League both for on-the-job training and to capture as much salvage as possible.
(Number agreement - there are three Corps, so those first two highlighted words should be 'lack' and 'their'.)

Suggested correction:
The Umayyad Corps, though higher in recruiting numbers, lack the materiel to equip all of their commands with ’Mechs, much less warriors trained well enough to use them effectively.

Suggested correction:

((This 'issue' is possibly better suited to 'Ask the Writers'.))
On p.22, "Filtvelt Coalition Region" map: a world in the Tortuga Dominions, just Rimwards of Tortuga Prime itself, is labeled as 'New Hati'.  Periphery 1e carries this planet as 'New Haiti', though more recent references concur with the FR:P spelling.  Given the historical precedent/parallel involved, which is correct?

From the 1st online published edition:

Page 15, paragraph 3, subsection "Condition":

The Fourth Legion remains on Landfall, while the Sixth continues to hold the other conquered world of Lahti, both in much better overall condition than Second Legion

Page 15, Regimental Status subsection, VI Legio:
VI Legio
Regiment/Veteran/Reliable
70% Strength/15% Upgraded
Current Base: Huntington

Problem: Lahti doesn't show up as being a conquered planet on the map on page 23; the map shows VI Legio as being based on Huntington, therefore these statements contradict each other.

Suggested solution: Amend the condition subsection to read "... the Sixth continues to hold the other Conquered world of Huntington..."

From the 1st online published edition:

Page 18, second paragraph and Regimental Status sub-section:

Problem: The text refers to the Convoy Defense Force twice, once in the second paragraph, and then as a unit within the Regimental Status sub-section. This is a departure from Field Manual: Periphery and Field Manual: Updates, which refer to the convoy element of the HSF as the Convoy Protection Force. I asked in the Ask The Writers forum if this was a typo or if the CPF had undergone a change of name, and Øystein indicated it was likely a typo.

Solution: Change "Convoy Defense Force" to "Convoy Protection Force".
