True . . . Aleksandr Kerensky almost went to war with the Lyran Commonwealth over their invasion of the Rim Worlds Republic, while he was at war with the Terran Hegemony. He made it clear in no uncertain terms to the Lyrans, to the SLDF, to everyone, that the Rim Worlds Republic was not at fault for the actions of its leader and some of its armed forces.

Fast forward to the invasion and the Clans were eager to invade the Barony of Strang to the point that they fought over the right to take out one of the last bastions of the Rim Worlds Republic.

on top of what stormfury said, recall the stigma that the RW citizens faced when they settled the pentagon worlds, just because someone said they weren't at fault doesn't mean people stop disliking them

      An interesting idea for an Au.  Reading through the thread, I'm unclear as to wether the clans have omnimechs. I think they should, just that it's limited to intro (lvl1 tech) only.  I haven't seen a mention of the improved gunnery/ piloting for clan mechwarriors. To me, the whole trained to be warriors from birth in an environment in which its understood that not everyone will become one would be more than enough to produce the better skilled warrior. 
      What about the iron womb technology?  If my memory serves me, that was a post exodus  advancement.  If that tech was never developed, then what?  A eugenics caste perhaps? hmmm.......

this is all implicitly understood when discussing the clans, and these are more associated with their culture than anything, i think fear factory is looking to change is the level of battletechnology

It's a strange interpretation of OmniTech, really.  I defined my own version of Class A and Class B refits.  In reality, you get the stock configuration which comes equipped with all weapons.  So if your Clan uses a CPLT-C1 Catapult it comes with everything you would see on that model.  A Warrior uses that, and depending on his or her style, he or she can perform some "refits" to kind of personalize the machine.  All the equipment that you could modify on an OmniMech is basically the same.  A basic MechWarrior can only make one Class A refit which is swapping a single system for weapons.  SO, this can be replacing an SRM-2 with two medium lasers to fill the space or maybe a medium laser and a heat sink.  Those higher in rank can make more of these refits.  CASE exists but it is incorporated into ammo pods rather than the chassis itself and it will operate the same way.

In other words, I really liked how Operation: Klondike handled customization and I did my own take on that.  Also, I think OmniTech and Clan falls hand in hand.

Warrior Training will create your basic 4/5 Warrior.  The EI Implant will enhance that to a 3/4 as my version will work just like the regular implant with a -1 bonus in gunnery and availability on vehicles and fighters.  Not only does it tie the warrior with the machine but it paints the field in a way that makes shooting your target much easier.  Also, I think EI is freaking sweet.

Other than that, there are some differences (like the "Warrior Phenotype"), but the Clans will basically operate the same.

How exactly are the Clans going to actually take the IS, then?  Their superior weaponry was what allowed them to conquer such a large chunk, without it the Houses would have been able to fight them off.

I think his major postulate there was more Clans invading.

More Clans invading and a much more devastated Inner Sphere at the time of invasion (no helm memory core because it's all intro tech).  I liked the idea where every Clan invaded taking a different part of the Inner Sphere.
