They're not 'paying' anyone for shipping. There's no cost involved aside from maintenance of the ship and food for the crew. Clans don't have an economy based on the C-Bill like the Inner Sphere does.

And the jump/warship and dropships that are transporting them themselves. There's an immense amount of "money" to be made doing interstellar shipping, as the Diamond Sharks know. So it is lost revenue for that kind of transport.

Somewhat OT, but... The idea that a society without money will be able to have a completely different economy has already been shown to be false. In the end it all comes down to production and consumption no matter what.

It's just some secondary variables that will differ - efficiency, stability, growth speed, things like that.
