Wow. You react REALLY strongly to statements that don't back themselves up with evidence... :o

It's been stated at least 3 or 4 time previously in this very thread.

I've searched all 21 pages for every instance of "ilClan" and nowhere does it say "not this year"

It's been said that it won't be soon, but no real sort of time frame is given.just vague "not on the horizon" and similar statements. Most of which are far enough back that a gencon release wouldn't be impossible.

I do think that 2015's longer than I can wait for it though. This book is very make-or-break for me.

There was a statement of "Not this year" in reference to 2013 at one point...but I've never seen anything for 2014 either.

It IS a conditional statement.

I'd call it a conditional lid-flipping, but I suppose it does help apply a thin veneer of calmness to it. ;)

If it doesn't, something else will happen.  And Battletech will continue on, and I for one will be damned happy.  I like the rollercoaster that everyone's been on, ups and downs, and it's a lot of fun to follow.  Whether it's ilClan, 3250, or 3150 for the next book, I'm happy with it - I'm here for the battles, BattleMechs, and cool designs.

Also House Kurita needs more foxgirls.

For a book we've been told is 90% written, to suddenly never happen? That'd be a bit more than I can put up with. It'd take something pretty kerensky damned spectacular to get me to look past that. It's been nearly a decade since GRRM threw out half a book to rewrite it at a glacial pace, and I'm still incensed that he did that. I don't willingly forget easily. likewise, the Battletech plot high water mark has been in nearly the same place since what, Bonfire of Worlds? FM3145 and the TROs gave us a little progress I suppose, but really it opened up more questions than it answered. Its hard for me to muster any enthusiasm for the past, when the future is looming overhead like damocles.

Hi,

My point is: Plans can change. There's actually quite a bit of material that has been written which may now never see the light of day.

Also part of my point: If The ilClan were canceled, that future you appear concerned with is gone with it, replaced with the same wide unknown all of us face day to day. If all you are concerned with is "the future", well, you can never really escape that. But if you're fearing a particular future, I'm suggesting that it may not be as certain as all that. Again, plans can change.

Depends on you mean. We will get the book, but it's not going to be called ilClan? Or there will be the book, but no one will be the ilClan? Ok for me, I just want a conclusion. Even a bad conclusion is better than no conclusion at all.

Or do you mean if there was no book? Well, I'm not going to be happy. I'll be very pissed, to be honest. Like I said, even a bad conclusion is better than nothing. Battletech wouldn't lose a fan, but CGL would lose a customer.

For my part, I'm not excited for IlClan because it represents any particular future (especially since we know virtually nothing about its contents, a fact for which I'm grateful). I'm excited for it because it represents the future in general. I'll always be excited for whatever product advances the timeline next.

BattleTech has a cool story with a ton of moving parts that's lasted for decades in the story and in the real world. I just want to know what comes next.

If that turns out not to be IlClan? No big deal. Just tell me what IS next so I can get hyped for that.

This +1.

AFAIK, the IlClan book is the future. However, I agree with Diplominator; I eagerly await advances in the timelin, no matter the format.

They can, but that doesn't mean I won't be disappointed when they do. I think its clear from this thread that a lot of folks are eagerly waiting for it.  If I were going to go and do something to axe a product that I knew people were eager to see, I'd want to communicate that to them clearly, because the longer they wait, the bigger the let-down should it not happen. At this point, the only thing I can think of that could possibly cushion that kind of fall is a (non-binding but this is what we intended) Big Book of Battletech Answers, wherein the great mysteries that plague us are given solid answers. And that's about as likely as me being made line dev.

Birds suddenly appear, happiness rains and champagne all round!

Seriously though, I'm a not fan of the direction implied by the title Ilclan, so clearly don't have the negative view held by some in this thread if it wasn't "the future". Even if it is, probably won't stop buying BT books, just more for strip mining for AU than following the canon path.

The Field Report: 2765 series is great, and was a complete surprise. Ditto Historical: Reunification War and Historical: Liberation of Terra. If there's no ilClan, about which I know nothing other than the name, there's a pretty decent chance that something else will come out that I'll really enjoy. *shrugs* I don't know if I'd enjoy ilClan or not - I didn't expect to enjoy Wars of Reaving, and I did; other books I thought I'd enjoy, but was ambivalent about. Chances are, whatever BattleTech product is pushed out, I'll pick it up sooner or later, and there's a better than average chance I'll enjoy it. That's why I'm still buying BattleTech stuff 20 years later, whereas other game systems have fallen by the wayside for me.

It's more interesting than optimal, and therefore better. O0 - Weirdo

Despite the real life cultural affinity that would seem to exist there I do not believe that the kuritan culture would jive with fox girls. Or at least, I would be sad to see them suffer from repression.

The future is unseen road we've yet to ride on.  For Good or for Ill.   Remember guys & gals, people writing for this franchise, have devoted considerable time and money torwards it continuing.  I would wager that they love it as much any of you or me.

As with its been said before, if you think BattleMechs aren't in the future, you'd be damn wrong.  (Gut feeling here.)

IlClan just name, knowing the future may make you crazy thinking something you may be considerably wrong about.

Anyways.....I'm justing waiting what they have in store for us.  Stop worrying.
