I always laughted at that.  Seeing such catering to piracy and illegal downloading on bases in the gulf, and even having rules for how many MB of vids/music/games people could bring back with them.

I saw RIPD the other night on tv. It wasnt as bad as some people have made it out to be, it wasnt GOOD but it wasnt terrible either.

I watched RIPD and thought it was ok, but I like the fact that it seems to be a Dark Horse comic turned into a movie - I think there are some other Dark Horse comics that could make very good movies, given a chance.

It's more interesting than optimal, and therefore better. O0 - Weirdo

I'm watching a old classic right now. I'm watching Cannonball Run.

Such a fun movie. Watching the out-takes, it's a wonder they even got the movie finished.

Jack Reacher. I enjoy the many subtitle nods in this. Particularly the classic feel to the car chase scene, and Robert Duval's character wearing spent brass for earplugs. Loved it just as much the second time as I did seeing it in the theater. The villain is a little hollow, but seeing his number one minion get what's coming, was very satisfying. If I'm being honest.

Just watched Blackfish.

A very disturbing documentary, to say the least.

It was, I've also noticed Sea World has been having a difficult time getting acts to perform for them since then.  And number of visitors has gone down as well.

California just tried to pass a law completely banning orca shows last year.  It didn't (to my knowledge) succeed, but I think the days of keeping performing orcas in captivity are numbered at this point.

Just got done re-watching "The Man With One Red Shoe," courtesy of Netflix. Still one of my favorite movies; man, is Tom Hanks young...and he's using a Walkman - hehe. Oh, also important - Carrie Fisher in a leopard print bikini.  [drool]

The Monuments Men.  Not a great film, not a bad film, just very episodic and disjointed.  It would have made a better miniseries, but I don't think you would have had the outstanding cast for TV.

"Red Dawn" (the remake) - not bad, on par with the original, I think, and they did a good job of keeping it up-to-date as far as current tech.

Doesn't count as a "movie" per se, but I've started watching The Guild. I'm half way through season three.

Recently went to check out Godzilla 2014.  Much better than the Matthew B. version.  Seems to have made good on keeping to our lovable lizard's true theme.  Caught "Falling Down" on cable for the first time and marveled out how much and how little our society has changed.

Falling down to me, was a very under rated movie.

Well, looks like this thread could use a bump.  It's a been a relatively quiet summer as far as movies go.... can't recall when so few big buzz movies were released (at least in the month of June). Anyhoo, though I really tried to enjoy it, here's my thoughts on the latest Transformers.... http://www.paulsvalleydailydemocrat.com/moviereviews/x611406915/-Transformers-4-causes-attention-spans-to-go-extinct

Also reviewed this since the last time I posted.... http://www.paulsvalleydailydemocrat.com/moviereviews/x1669975547/-How-to-train-your-Dragon-2-nearly-great-in-every-way-a-sequel-can-be

Until they wise up and ditch Michael Bay, I'm not bothering with further Transformers flicks.
