Million Dollar Arm.  Fun little film, pretty typical Disney Sports Genre.  And watching Lake Bell for two hours is seldom a waste of time.

I just watched Prisoners on cable.  Pretty good, liked the end.  Looking forward to "Lone Survivor" and " Lego Movie" coming up soon.

Well i liked Hercules, better than i thought.  BUT Edge of tomorrow was a little too repetitive with all the replaying of the same scenes for each "reset".  I would have also liked to have seen them, when they finally figured out where the "Omega" was, to just have taken EVERYTHING there, rather than just one ships worth.

The Rocketeer...not as good as I remember when I watched it as a kid but it was still a fun little flick. Now that I am older, I am wondering what kind of fuel that thing could have run on to last that long. I know it is fiction but still...

Couldn't remember? The General in charge of the forces was a stubborn self serving prick, who wouldn't have ever believed them.

They had to go with what they had, although it would have been good to see the SO guys join up with them, noting the FMB was with them.

Watching Captain America: The Winter Soldier again.

I noticed something sort of funny.  In The Avengers, Steve no-sells a Mjolnir strike from Thor with his shield.  In this movie, he blocks a kick from Batarac and gets sent flying.  He wasn't as well braced, but it still has somewhat silly implications regarding the relative striking power of the two characters.

Watched Batman: Assault on Arkham last evening.

It was quite a decent film, actually. I was a little hesitant, given that it's set with the Arkham-series universe of console games... so being somewhat worried that an animated feature might spoil my pleasant memories of the video games, I went into watching this with a healthy level of concern. But it worked out rather well, fortunately.

Edge of Tomarrow was OK.As to the repeating scenes,it's what gives you the "frustration" his character goes through to get to the end.The "Combat training" is a good ex sample of what I mean.Resetting every time he got a injury,,,,,I'd beg her not to shot me too.

Watched Maleficent, and Annapolis last night.
Maleficent was a decent retelling of the tale of sleeping beauty, but man i could not STAND that trio of blue/green and red (or was it orange) Fairies..  They were annoying as heck.

Annapolis was a very good flick, and i was surprised Donnie Whalberg had such a small role in it.

From what I recall, the trio was just as annoying in the original movie, too.

I loved that movie thought it was great having Kevin Conroy doing the voice of Batman again.  Haven't been too impressed with the others who have followed

Kevin Conroy has the most range out of all of them imo. He can do emotional Bruce Wayne, funny Bruce Wayne, Batman, angry Batman, singing Batman, sarcastic Batman etc. Most of the other VA's seem to be just trying for the unemotional side of him but I think that is a mistake. Of course, he has had a heck of a lot more time to refine his version of the voice so there is that.

The Joker VA's also seem to be in a similar situation compared to the now retired Mark Hamill. None of them seem that bad imo but, again, they seem to lack Hamill's full range in how he did the voice.

Watching Pompeii very good movie better than what I thought

Some areas of that film were more like "toss your suspension of belief out of the window, rather than just suspend it"..  but it was still a decent film..

Just got done watching 2 movies i checked out from my local Library, one of which i never heard of till i looked up what Liam neeson's early career was like. That was Kinsey. A damn good movie on Dr Kinsey's life, though some of it was slow and a little to pornographic imo. The other was a Charlie Thezron film, North Country. Man was that one good, but slow in parts as well.

Hamil's Joker captured the strange sense of humor of the 90s Joker.  He was constantly making jokes that only he laughed at.  He was an expert in lead balloons.  The recent revisions are less Clown Prince of Crime and in some cases, like the John DiMaggio version in Red Hood, more crazy for the sake of crazy.  It isn't a bad thing.  But, the different versions of the Joker are more defined than the different versions of Batman.  Most Batman VAs other than Conroy end up just sounding like a guy that wandered in to a sound studio with an open door.  Batman is Conroy's.

I agree. I would've actually preferred to see that angle play out a little more, but King Shark met his end too early.

I think Bruce Greenwood has managed to achieve something of a unique Batvoice in some of the more recent animated features. To the point, perhaps, that I consider his take as a suitable secondary alternative to Conroy.

"A History of Violence." Honestly a bit underwhelmed. Not sure what they were going for, impact-wise. Mortensen was decent, as were Bello, Harris and Hurt. I just felt no connection to any of the characters.

Carpenter's The Fog.  Great cast, creepy ghost story, solid tension, never needed a remake, much less a crappy one.  Thinking of doing a Blake costume for next Halloween.

"Charlie Wilson's War" solid performance by Hanks and Roberts, but Phillip Seymour Hoffman steals the show in this one. Overall worth the time to watch it.

My wife and daughter are out of town, so I have been delving into the stuff they hate.   :)  Also hit the used DVD place this week.

Evil Dead 2, with the audio commentary on.   Best pragmatic argument against streaming (or pirating,) in my book.
The Octagon.  Found this gem of cheesy '80's gold this week.  I remember watching it at a drive in when I was 13, and hooking me on the ninja mythos for life.  Which leads me to:
Ninja Assassin.  Got the Blu-ray used for $3.  Big, noisy, silly while trying to stay serious.  Still liked it.  Not near as bad as people said.
Super 8.  Another $3 used, but it hadn't been opened.  I freaking loved this movie.  One of the best coming of age films I have seen in a long time, mixed with ET, Close Encounters, and Alien.  Loved it.
Manhunter.  Yeay!  The first of Harris' "Hannibal Lector) books to make it to the screen, it is an adaption of Red Dragon.  Very underrated movie, and as much as I loved Sir Anthony in Silence (I refused to see any of the others which made Lector the hero,) Brian Cox really does a beautiful job.
Shawn of the Dead.  Love this movie.
Zombieland.  Missed this is the theater, got it for free.  Hard to argue.  See, the Inevitable Zombie Apoccalypse can be fun!
Vampires.  I have loved this movie since I saw it in the theater.  Replaced my old VHS copy with a DVD.

"Shawn of the Dead" and "Zombieland" were both enjoyable. If you enjoy Simon Pegg, and haven't seen it, I definitely recommend "Hot Fuzz." ("Yarp!")w
