Came across this in one of my old mini boxes.

Arm mounted Jump jets anyone?

Looks like a typo since arms should be listed before the torso and not after.

And look at that rear side torso armor on the Marauder. They don't make them like that anymore.  ^-^

That would make the 'I Am Jade Falcon' maneuver a hell of a lot easier, I suppose.

Actually, the more I look at it, if you make the logical jump to the jets being leg-mounted, that's not a bad Mech. A full jump and both large lasers gives you zero heat. That's a rare trick for 3025. The CT ammo is a bit of a 'uh oh', but it's 3025- live dangerous or stay home.

I'd use the hell out of that, I really do like it... hand-mounted jets aside. ;)

Wow that an old one. That is built under the 1st ed. Battledroids rules. I found this online about it.

You find weird stuff here and there in the old rules.

It is from the old plastic Macross/Battletech kits.  This one had a Marauder and a unique Kurita variant Ostroc based on the Zentradi Regult Battle Pod with dual missile packs.  If you recall the design of the Regult, the "arms" are movable thrusters...so it was translated somewhat literally to Btech.  Not legal now, but back in 80s...

Still a viable design by moving the jumpjets to the RT/LT and giving it proper Ostroc arms/hands.

Used to great effect and one of my favorite rides of all time..  Updated for 3050 use and beyond.

Or leaving off the hands and giving it the no/minimal arms quirk.

I had one of those as a metal mini back in the '80s but the torso was several clam shells that didn't fit well together.  So, after several trials to assemble that failed, it got dumped into spare parts boxes for other projects.  At the time it was more reasonable for a BattleTech Record Sheet to resemble the figure, not the other way around.  The arms did enjoy universal joints so that jump jets could be pointed in any direction for greater mobility.  Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Somehow during the past thirty years, the Zentradi battlepods and a few other isolated pieces were lost to the oblivion of unopened moving boxes ... so I can be impressed that I even remember what they looked like.

Would this be now classified as a illegal Mech, but be functional via XTRO: Boondoggles?

I admit, I'd love to see a good writeup for a prototype arm-mounted jump jet Mech, and the hilarity/tragedy that resulted from its first test.

instead, you can have this!

Quote from: Star league research exerpt
-upper-exrtremity mount jump jets, test fourteen: Reinforced joints provided no change in test results. Arms shear from torso at 34 meters, resulting in crash landing of battlemech. structural analysis of limbs to commence on recovery. Limb from previous test (2) recovery projected in two days; limb was located by use of through satellite.

Positive cross-testing results with new impact reducing cockpit structure have been prepared for all appropriate departments, following security checks. Test pilot was confined to medical facilities for six weeks by staff, deemed otherwise unharmed. All further tests to be conducted ONLY with this new design of cockpit  mounting until further notice.

To be fair, arm-mounted jump jets don't make that much less sense than leg-mounted ones. Or radically asymmetrical arrangements that nonetheless work just fine (rare in canon designs, but legitimately doable). Or jets being pod-mountable on OmniMechs rather than having to be an integral part of their structure to function...
