Adding Units to Megamek
« on: 05 October 2014, 09:07:46 »
Just a quick question. I made some units in MekLab and wanted to add them to Megamek. I dragged them over and dropped them in the mechfiles folder, but they do not show up. Am I missing a step here?

All files must be an MTF or BLK type.

They will not show up until MHQ/MM is reloaded.

Apparently, you edited them with Notepad and now they have a .txt suffix.

rename them to MyMech.MTF if they came from MML.

They have the .blk suffix, and I am still getting the error.

Did you do this? Edit them with anything but MML?

Just go back into MML make the Mech again and then save it to /data/mechfiles/customs/

Don't edit the file with some other program unless you know how to handle file type changes.

I created different configurations of an omni-tank in MML and dragged them straight to MM. I am going to try to adjust some of the equipment and see if that works.

I think I will just delete the files I have created to this point and start over, saving them straight to MM. Thanks.

What year do you have your MM instance set up for?

I loaded your vehcile in MM Lab fine, and it validated no problem.

When I copied it to my customs and opened my Megamek instance, because I have the game year set for 3025, your tank didn't show, because you gave it a 3145 date.I changed my date to 3145 and the tank showed up.

sure

So they load fine for me as is.  One suggestion would be to delete your unit.cache file and let MM rebuild that on started.

You deleted your cache, yes?  Where are you putting the files themselves?

Drew you are using an old version. Perhaps an upgrade will help. Everything worked fine in R1993.

Not sure what your doing, but updating is a good idea. R1970 (0.39.1-dev-r11156) and I can't even MAKE these files give me any problems.

Yeppers, updating worked. And these little guys are fairly combat effective. To bad the amphibious hull is not supported yet.
