Mystery symbol, FM3085
« on: 23 July 2015, 18:35:38 »
Page 16 of Field Manual 3085 has a drawing of fighting between mechs. One Catapult is decorated with an odd symbol, a snake-like shape around a sword. What is this?

And why does it look similar to the Gray Monday attacks instigators' alleged symbol?
Era Report 3145, page 12: "The sole piece of identifying information we have come from reports of a strange insignia; a snake coiled around a sword and set against a blood-red disk."
The Catapult's symbol seems to be lacking the disc though, and the shape is vague enough it may not be a snake.

I am inclined to think it is merely a coincidence the description and the symbol the Catapult are similar, though i still wonder which faction the Catapult belongs to, whose symbol it is.

Given that the surrounding text is describing GOLDEN DAWN and that there's a (former) FWLM King Crab, I'd wager it's a RAF Cataplut. The symbol could just as easily be a personal decoration as anything else

I wonder. If it is a RAF mech with personal symbol, i wonder if it has any connection to the mystery attackers.
I'm not normally one for conspiracy theories of any kind, anywhere, but i'm making an exception here. Way too intriguing :)

The picture is pretty ambiguous though, it could as well be a FWL mech, with the bottom-left tank/mech being on the bottom-right mech's (a Hunchback?) side. But would that change anything?

EDIT Speaking of the mystery attacker's their symbol is similar (in spirit at least) to the 43rd Shadow Division's symbol which has two snakes around a sword on blood-red triangle.

Doesn't look like a snake to me, more like a ribbon or banner.

Didn't the 2nd SL's 1st Regiment have a snake wrapped around the Cameron Star- sort of homage to Task Force Serpent by what I thought.
