I believe every batalion should have a command lance or platoon with every Regiment having a command company.  Just MHO.

34 or 35 if we count Grog's two mechs.

Which means five to six mechs if we want a command lance

The Banshee and Mackie will be on the balcony doing their Waldorf-and-Statler routine. So, not sure if you´d count them.

I'll allow the two submissions from Grognard--for now.  If we have enough volunteers, I might ask him to cut back to one later.

For the moment, we have 35 'Mechs in the unit.  6 Lights, 10 Mediums, 11 Heavies, and 8 Assaults.  Including no less than five Warhammers!

Five away from a full-strength Battalion (36 in the three line companies, plus a Command Lance!).

Captain Archibald Christi commanding of the Union class dropship "Twin Suns".

Christi's father, his father, and his father have commanded the "Twin Suns" since was built. It has gone through almost everyone war serving the Federated suns naval forces as an transpot for most of it service.

Archibalds' father was the first totake the Twin Suns out of Fed Suns service. Sunce than Archibald has been running tramp for anyone willing to pay. Mostly mercs.

Yet Archi has an Fantasy about being a merc himself and wishes to add the the "Twin Suns" to this merc group as ling as the pay keeps comming.

P.S. Good old archi font mind landing in a hot LZ the Twin Suns bears many scars form such actions.

The Mackie and my Banshee, senior citizens that they are, can spend the entire campaign sitting on the balcony and giving a Waldorf and Statler style running commentary.

"That's not wise."

"I smell blood."

IIRC, the usual format is:

Waldorf: Comment
Statler: Witty Reply
Both: Dohohoho!

i.e.

Waldorf: There´s nothing like good air support.
Statler: And these guys ARE nothing like good air support.
Both: Dohohoho!

(that one´s not mine; I read it here a long time ago)

Is it just me, or is there something hilariously wrong with the slowest medium 'Mech also being the fastest?

Actually, for that matter, I'm stunned there are no other 4/6 medium 'Mechs.

I for one and very interested in how exactly we will be organized. Seem to be a heavier battalion at this point with a single light recon lance.

Mechwarrior: Kyle "Kwic" Warwick

Mech: Phoenix Hawk PXH-1C "Special" in Mottled Dark Grey Camo, 38 Mech Leg markers on the Right leg under script text "Knee", 23 on the Left under a script "Caps", 8 Kill markers under the cockpit.

Kyle is never sitting still, almost twitchy, lean yet wiry, clean shaven, lightly tanned of indeterminable heritage, bald, piercing blue eyes that constantly scan, watching and seeing everything.  When not kicking heavy bags in the gym, he is pouring over his mech ensuring it is in top form.  Has been known to weld large tubes to training  mech's legs to practice his most notable attack form, jumping into the rear arc and knocking large assault mech's legs out from under them.

Gio is referring to his own Shadowhawk LAM, which has the slowest ground speed of the mediums, but is also just barely (I think) capable of supersonic speed in fighter mode.

I'd like to make some entirely hypothetical suggestions for organisation of this motley crew. These are just suggestions.

Lance #1 - Anvil Lance
AWS-8Q Awesome--Blackpanzer (MechWarrior Zhao "Blackpanzer" Zi Long).
MAD-4A Marauder II--Minnow (MechWarrior Anton Watson).
MSK-6S Mackie--Diamondshark (MechWarrior John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt).
UM-R60 UrbanMech--Ckosacranoid (MechWarrior "The Stig").

Made up of the slowest 'Mechs in the unit these are deployed defensively around an objective or brought up for a concentrated assault upon an objective.

Lance #2 - Hammer Lance Alpha
HTM-27U Hatamoto-Hi--Shin Yodama (MechWarrior Shin Yodama).
WHM-7S Warhammer--DOC_Agren (MechWarrior Warren "Doc" Agren).
WHM-7A Warhammer--Grognard (MechWarrior Ryan McDonald).
GHR-5N Grasshopper--Irose (MechWarrior Casey Jordan).

Lance #3 - Hammer Lance Beta
BLR-1D BattleMaster--Kidd (MechWarrior Ian "Kid" Kelly).
BLR-1G-DC BattleMaster--Liam's Ghost (MechWarrior Andrew Ringe-MacCrabhain).
MAD-1R Marauder--Cidwm (MechWarrior Cidwm).
MAD-5D Marauder--IronHead (MechWarrior Durwin "Birdie" Sparrow).

Lance #4- Hammer Lance Gamma
BNC-3E Banshee--Sir Chaos (MechWarrior Dave Hunter).
ZEU-9S Zeus--Vonshroom (MechWarrior Amon Blucher).
WHM-7A Warhammer--Ijewett (MechWarrior Dimitry "Been There" Antonov).
WHM-6K Warhammer--Daemion (MechWarrior Eli Walker).

All three of the Hammer lances are built around a simple concept: bring at least half a dozen PPCs to bear at once. This gives them lances substantial long and medium range hitting power.

Lance #5 - Striker Lance Alpha
WFT-1 Wolf Trap--Red Pins (MechWarrior Ronald Meyer).
CN9-D Centurion--JPArbiter (MechWarrior J. P. Arbiter).
JR7-F Jenner--Tai Dai Cultist (MechWarrior Frederick W. "Tie-Dye" Palowaski).
JR7-31P Rattlesnake--Warclaw (MechWarrior Warclaw).
PXH-1c Phoenix Hawk--Kwic (MechWarrior Kyle "Kwic" Warwick).

Lance #6 - Striker Lance Beta
VL-5T Vulcan--Drakensis (MechWarrior Arthur Mackensen).
HER-2M Hermes II/Mercury--PurpleDragon (MechWarrior Kavan Clynes).
SPR-5F Spector--Broken Mnemonic (MechWarrior Geraint "Taff" Blethyn).
TLN-5W Talon--Snakespinner (MechWarrior Virginia de Sade).
SDR-5V Spider--Takiro (MechWarrior Robert Takiro).

The two striker lances are slightly over-sized and mix fast medium and light 'Mechs for recon and raiding purposes.

Lance #7 - Trooper Lance Alpha
LNX-9Q Lynx--2ndACR (MechWarrior Mitchell).
SHD-2HB Shadow Hawk--Dragon Cat (MechWarrior Canin Rosse).
SHD-2K Shadow Hawk--Taron Storm (MechWarrior Taron Storm).
STN-3Lb Sentinel--Sharpnel (MechWarrior Dane "Longshot" Brammidge).

Lance #8 - Trooper Lance Beta
CRB-27 Crab--Hawkins180 (MechWarrior Wendell St. John).
CRS-6C Crossbow--Shadow Wraith (Mechwarrior Jerry Robin Williams).
SHD-X2 Shadow Hawk LAM--Giovanni Blasini (MechWarrior Giovanni Blasini).
WVR-7H Wolverine--Grognard (MechWarrior Steve Ronin).

The two trooper lances are made up of mid-speed mediums that can be moved around easily to reinforce a threatened flank or doubledown on an attack.

Lance #9 - Assault Lance
WHM-6D Warhammer--Terrace (MechWarrior Cerrate Barton).
BLT-6-KNT Black Knight--VhenRa (MechWarrior Alexander Dale).
CTS-6Y Cestus--Tyler Jorgensson (MechWarrior Alexander J. Carter).
TDR-5Sb Thunderbolt--Master Arminas (MechWarrior Arminas).

Made up of sturdy 'Mechs with respectable firepower the Assault Lance takes point on the attack.

The lances then form into companies as follows:

Alpha Company
Trooper Alpha
Striker Alpha
Hammer Alpha

Beta Company
Trooper Beta
Striker Beta
Hammer Beta

Gamma Company
Anvil
Assault
Hammer Gamma

Good thought about the larger striker lances - most of the time they're going to be away from support.  Do any of the strikers have a TAG?

I don't think so, although my Spector has a Guardian ECM system (plus Null Sig and the Chameleon LPS, to help me run away from danger).

It's more interesting than optimal, and therefore better. O0 - Weirdo

Edit: confuzzled the striker lances and trooper lances.

Nothing in the striker or trooper lances carries TAG fixed.  The SHD-X2 has a 4-ton bomb bay, and TAG is one of the items that can be carried as a bomb and used in both 'Mech mode and ASF mode.  The other item usable in both modes are RL-10 packs.

Xióng "Ice" Duilio and “Zhōng Kuí” his ASN-21 Assassin reporting for duty

It is never easy to be on the losing side and being twice on it is even harder.
However, this is what happened to Xióng Duilio, an Andurien from birth. He fought alongside his compatriots in the 4th Defenders of Andurien in the Andurien Secession War before losing everything except his honour on the last fight against the First Free Worlds Guards.
Unable to find a place in the new Free Worlds Legionnaires because of his former loyalties, Duilio also learned that his brother's Assassin was being phased out of service after centuries of being in the Free Worlds League Military, which severed any loyalties he might have left for the Free Worlds League.
Taking his family 'Mech to Outreach, Xióng Duilio worked as a freelancer for several mercenary units waiting for the time to “show the Leaguers how wrong they were.”

Duilio, that began his career in a Heavy 'Mech, is nicknamed “Ice” for his habit of keeping his 'Mechs running cool while making the best of their firepower.
In spite of being centuries old, Xióng Duilio's ASN-21 Assassin is in perfect condition as his family always invests all his money into this 'Mech, a tradition that he keeps on, knowing well that “Zhōng Kuí” is the only thing able to keep him alive on the battlefield.
« Last Edit: 02 September 2015, 17:09:58 by Ice Hellion »
In turn they tested each Clan namesake
In trial against the ice hellion's mettle.
Each chased the ice hellion, hunting it down.
All faild to match the predator's speed and grace.
Khan Cage smiled and said. "And that is how we shall be."

The BLR-1G-DC can be on the command lance? A third Striker lance should be possible. That will give us two manoeuvre companies of Striker + Hammer + Trooper lances and third company of Assault + Hammer + Striker lances in support with Command to oversee.
