Are you using H-FFA for your armor?  My calcs are showing 32 points in each arc with H-FFA.

Like battlemechs, the armor type doesn't change the maximum armor points allowed on a certain tonnage.  Both calculations were off, a 15 ton vehicle can only carry 92 points of armor (15 x 3.5 + 40 = 92.5).  One can kind of double that by using hardened armor, but technically that's not entirely correct (since each point of armor can take 2 points of damage, rather than counting as 2 points of armor).

Exactly.

Whoops, thanks for catching my math.  Should have used a calculator.

Ah, found the issue.  This was a fundament rules change made in Tech Manual (back in the day there weren't limits) and my design software predates that as does my old school mindset.  Thanks for the reminder.

I can't replicate your design without it being overweight, and the firing arcs for the side weapons are invalid. Also you didn't list any fuel or cargo space. And, A-Pods and B-Pods are illegal for small craft.

Reducing the thrust to 4/6 and putting the crew in steerage-level quarters I can get a platoon and 10 tons' fuel in there. 6/9 is frankly overkill for a transport small craft anyway.

Half the fun of BattleTech is the mental gymnastics required to scientifically rationalize design choices made decades ago entirely based on the Rule of Cool.

The other half is a first-turn AC/2 shot TAC to your gyro that causes your Atlas to fall and smash its own cockpit... wait, I said fun didn't I?

Hmm was playing with rem lab on a whim  O:-). So I can do it again but it's more of an example of out side the box thinking.  And the pods are a effective use of an underused technology.

Closer to an IFV than an APC the Molatov is really a fully fledged light tank with integrated infantry unit and excellent anti infantry and anti vehicle firepower.  Packing the excellent multi purpose plasma rifle making the Molatov highly effective against many infantry, armoured infantry and vehicle targets.  The Molatov is similar in cost and capabilities to the popular myrmidon II and can comfortably shrug off multiple gauss rifle rounds while fitting easily into a light vehicle bay.

While the Molatov is an excellent premium machine Carrion Combat Industries also offers the excellent and cost effective Voltiguer, a pair of MML 5's offer flexible capabilities whether you load them with infantry killing inferno's, semi guided missiles following TAG guidance provided by your passengers or whipping up a quick defensive minefield the Voltiguer can fill any roll you have ammo for.  All this for barely more than half the price of a Molatov with all the mobility and infantry carrying capability of it's bigger brother.

Well, originally from my WiGE MBT article: http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=12315.0

The Machete sounds like a good starting point. It has a 7/11 WiGE movement profile and armor that can be easily tweaked to meet the 30-point-per-facing number. It's only problem is its 1-ton infantry compartment... which is no problem if the PPC is downgraded to a Light PPC (or ERML). We can even add in a 'mech-grade flamer or an MG w/100 shots for anti-PBI work.

The Machete II can carry a full foot or jump platoon of infantry directly into the battlefield after deploying in the high atmosphere; it can survive two hits from a Gauss rifle or cERPPC on any facing, it can ignore any ground or water obstacles, and can provide fire support to its dismounts, clearing its own LZ and supporting them with indirect LRM fire, or FASCAM, or any kind of LRM/SRM ammo needed. It can deal with enemy infantry, provide its own smoke screens, and deal with light enemy vehicles.

It is also relatively economical; the SFE and LPPC are the two single most advanced items. Someone will have to calculate cost, though; I do these things by hand.

Love the WIGE chassis for high speed raids from high altitude.  Although it's pretty high risk for the poor infantry, they go down with a bit of a boom a little too often.  For a ground force I'd be more inclined to take hard to kill Tracked or even faster VTOL

Okay thought I'd take a punt at this design request.

I started with the basic maxim and tweaked it. Now as I plan to use it with my current AtB merc unit it has a fusion engine to simplify logistics so it's expensive but can take two AC20 hits anywhere by the rear, due to it's 12 tons of Ferro-Fibrous armour.

I knocked it up with MegaMekLab.

You really should combine the SRMs into 2xSRM4 or 4xSRM2 - no point in carrying ammo for two different kinds of launchers when you can carry two tons for identical launchers!

Was thinking load the SRM2 with inferno's for dealing with enemy PBI while the SRM6 is for other threats.

But if you have one kind of launcher you can use all of them for either kind of threat! :)

Good points, as I said it's a refit I'm doing in an AtB game so I'll see how the current version works out and then try yours :)
